Description

Mom thinks all twenty-six of her monkeys are angelic, but from Andy's wayward airplane to Zelda's trip to the zoo, these little ones find a way to get into mischief for each letter of the alphabet.

Description

The twenty-six young monkeys in this book aren't so naughty. They just like to have a little fun when Mom and Dad aren't home. From Andy all the way to Zelda, each charming chimp gets into his or her own alphabetical form of mischief. When Mom and Dad return, their fancy Victorian house is in chaos. Is it off to the zoo with the naughty monkeys? Yes, but only for a fun-filled visit (phew!).
The bouncy rhymed couplets, combined with the utterly ridiculous premise, will make alphabet learning a treat.

Mom and Dad truck their 26 monkeys into bed and go out for the evening. Rather than going to bed, each monkey engages in mischievous acts. After Mom and Dad return the monkeys are taken to the zoo.

I loved this book. It has animals, which all kids love and it also teaches the children the alphabet. This would be perfect for kindergarten.

Cute story about naughty little monkeys that don't go to bed when mom and dad leave but instead cause trouble all over the house. Each letter is represented with a word that starts with it so the reader can identify what it is and why it is being used. Fun rhymes to make the reader more entertained.

K-2. Good for spelling, using alphabetical order.

Happy story of little monkeys getting into trouble while the parents are out. This is an good picture book with colorful illustrations, and a easy read for beginning readers.

The monkeys are very naughty but oh so funny. The illustrations take the fun rhymes to an even higher level of fun. The expressions on the monkeys' faces are cute. I am impressed that the illustrator created a house that looks real and cartoonish at the same time.

Listen, here's what's up. If YOU had 26 small children to take care of (human children, not even MONKEY children!), would YOU leave them all night without a babysitter?

I didn't think so.

Really, the parents had it coming. When their children dive into the bathtub to make a big splash, when they

write their names with jam, when they leave the fridge open and ruin the curtains (and all in alphabetical order, too!), I know whose fault it is. THE PARENTS.

The alphabet theme is a little understated here - it's a fun addition, but they're not announcing in big letters A is for APPLES and ANDY throwing an AIRPLANE on each page. There's a 4 line rhyme with the alliterative word in bold, and that's about it. (The names of the monkeys are on their pajama shirts.)

The pictures are amusing enough, but to tell the truth I didn't like the language that much. It seemed a little... like I've seen it all before. It could have been better. And I didn't like the rhyme for Z, either. Not only did the 26th monkey not get to do anything, but they were all taken (in pink dresses for the girls and blue sailor suits for the boys) to the zoo as... a treat? That's how it reads, with them walking along with balloons and umbrellas. I know it's Mom and Dad's fault the house is such a mess, but still... shouldn't they be punished just a little? Maybe by having to STAY HOME and clean it up? (Unless they're being brought to the zoo to be abandoned there for being so naughty, which makes sense but WOW what a message.)

I don't know, it's just not sitting right. And like I said, the rhymes? I've read better. Nice artwork, though.

Cute book. The only thing I didn't enjoy was the repeated line "Naughty little monkey" 26 times. Way too much. It makes the reading mundane. I read this to my sister and she was bored. I did like the illustrations though.

This book has nice illustrations. I liked the words with related letters being bold. I don't like the idea of leaving the kids for the evening. It doesn't happen in real life, but also it is a bad learning for the kids. On the other hand this book might work as a reverse psychology. When the kids

see the chaos, they will realize that it is not such a good idea to wreak a havoc when parents are not around.

This book depicts a family of twenty-six monkeys who make trouble while their parents are out for the evening. As this is an alphabet book, each naughty monkey does something related to his/her name (eg: Sally speeds down the slide). Fun and silly book to read to young students.

This one won a SMART award which the kids vote on their favorite book of the year. The monkeys are left alone for the night and they get into all kinds of trouble, each monkey's name starts with a different letter and the trouble they get into also starts with that same letter.I think a lot of kids

liked knowing people with the same name as a naughty monkey.

Mom leaves her 26 monkeys at home as she goes out with Dad for the evening, expecting her monkeys to be well behaved and go to sleep. Instead, each one of them gets into mischief and makes a mess. At the end, they are taken to the zoo because monkeys don't belong in a house.

Funny and enjoyable book! Helps children learn the ABCs and what NOT to do: Jump on the bed of course!

I enjoyed this book because it was a fun and clever way to exhibit the alphabet. I loved that each of the 26 monkeys names' began with a corresponding letter to the alphabet. While reading this story I felt compelled to stop and ask students, what does this name begin with and what does that name
Show More
begin with? It is important for students to see letters in different contexts because then they are not just memorizing the alphabet, but can apply it to their everyday life. I think it also shows children what it means to be responsible when children (or monkeys in this case) are left home alone. Children know that all the mischief and destruction the monkeys caused is not an acceptable way to act. The story not only portrays the alphabet in a fun way, it teaches a valuable lesson about being trustworthy.
