Mrs. Frizzle is at it again. Her class is supposed to go on a field trip to the planetarium, but yet again they take a different kind of field trip. Their bus turns into a spaceship and they are off to the tour the solar system. This is a great book that takes you on an amazing trip to see all of
Show More
our planets.

As a student i am always happy to read a magic school bus book. They are interesting, fun, and creative. This one is no different. The comedy in this book is great and i don't even notice that i am reading an informational book.

As a teacher this is the perfect book to use with my students to get them interested in the solar system. This is the book that i would use to introduce the topic. An activity i could do with this book would be to take my students on a fiel trip to the science center and use this book as an achor and reason for going there.

This book is about exploration of outer space for students and what they can learn and explore through outter space. It also as great illustrations and great information regarding facts about space.

I liked this book because a lot of students may not understand how amazing space really is or what
Show More
exactly is in space. With a book like this, students can learn about the world outside of ours.

I would relate this to the classroom by letting the students build their own solar system out of boxes and other items they wanted to use. After they are finished, we would post them outside the classroom for everyone to see.

Yet another fun field trip with Ms. Fizzle. A trip to the real Solar System is was cooler than the Planatarium!

I loved this book because I love anything that has to do with the planets, they are a mystery to us. We can explore and see them in person, and that is what is so cool about them.

We would
Show More
use this book to learn the planets. We would also talk about how we don't consider Pluto as a planet anymore. We would also use this book to make our own model of the Solar System.

This is the story of the fun loving Miss Frizzle and her class's trip to the planetarium. As always though, Miss Frizzle has something else up her sleeve. Their class bus takes an actual trip through the solary system to learn first hand about the galaxy and it's many wonders!

I think the Magic
Show More
school buses are a neat way to educate children. They are much more entertaining and the illustrations are great. The kids are able to connect with the students and look forward to seeing what happens on their adventures.

This would be a fun book to introduce the planets to each child. I would challenge my students to make a model of their favorite planet. Also, I would take a trip to a planetarium!

The Magic School Bus books are always a good pick. I do think it is weird how they always think somewhat poorly of Ms. Frizzle. I think I would have re-thought that approach.

The magic school bus is a good set of series books. It would be a good book to read when introducing the solar system to a classroom. The magic school bus visits the solar system describes what it is like in outer space.

Age appropriateness: intermediate
Genre: Science Fiction
Media: Pen and ink

This book is good example of science fiction because it has believable elements but then the author takes the plot a bit further. In this case the solar system and all its components are factual but the students’ bus turns
Show More
into a space ship and flies into outer space. I think this book has educational value and it makes the solar system more real to the students.

Genre: Science fiction because takes place in the real world, but is still exaggerated from reality. Though the solar system is accurate, the idea of taking a field trip to see it is not reality, making it science fiction.

This book is good for children first to fourth grade. It teaches children about the solar system. This book would be great to read before starting a unit on space.

The Magic School Bus series is a fun way to teach science to children. The books are fun and informative. This book outlines the solar system and highlight specific aspects of space. It allows children to learn about the solar system in a fun way.

A great review or introduction for the solar system!! Can read the story and ask the facts that are on the side. It is about Mrs. Frizzle's class was visiting the planetarium and sadly it was closed. They stopped at a red light and the bus took off into outer space. They were exploring the solar
Show More
system and everything was going great until a asteroid hit the bus light. Then the students ended up alone and lost in the solar system. It is a fun way to explore all the different planets.

One day Mrs. Frizzle, decides to introduce the class to our solar system. When introducing this Mrs. Frizzle decides it would be great to take the class on a field trip using the magic school bus.

These series of books are a great way to take the children inside the material they are learning. I
Show More
think children like these type of books so more than others because, they are not any other books like them.

After giving the lesson on the solar system, the teacher could assign for this book to be read individually by each student in the class. Then she could have the students draw their own solar system according to the proper order of the plants.

This book would be a great way to activate prior knowledge and introduce the solar system in the classroom. The book is chock full of information on the planets in the solar system. The only problem I have with this book is that the pages are very busy so younger children would have a hard time
Show More
reading it on their on.

When the planetarium turns out to be closed, the magic school bus takes off on a tour of the planets. We learn plenty of facts about the planets and about the solar system in general.

This is a book that i recommend to kids that like science and want to learn about the solar system.

The story begins when Ms. Frizzle decides to take her elementary classroom on a fieldtrip to the planetarium, only to find out that the museum is closed. Determined to not waste the day, Ms. Frizzle transforms the school bus into a spaceship and takes the classroom for a ride through the solar
Show More
system.

What an innovative way to teach children about the solar system without them realizing that they are being taught! The Magic School Bus series is an excellent tool for teaching multiple subjects to young children.

Classroom extensions include having the students to list the different planets of the solar system. Another extension includes having the children to draw or color a diagram reflecting the planets in their proper place in the solar system.

Ms. Frizzle decides to take the kids in her class to have a field trip to the solar system, in their school bus. However, the bus gets lost and the kids take an adventure in the solar system. The trip is exciting and kids get to learn different planets by riding pass them.
The illustrations are
Show More
nice and colorful. It is good to show children different features of each planet and help them to recognize them. It is a good book to read with children and teach them some knowledge about the space.
Recommended for children from grade 1-4.

I have strong memories of reading this under my Ninja Turtles comforter on my bottom bunk with a reading light. It was one of the first times I had ever used a reading light, and the entire thing felt so adventurous and romantic to younger me. It's one of my fondest reading memories.

My partner read
Show More
this to me to help me fall asleep because I'm sick. I felt very safe and comforted and taken care of. This is now one of my fondest reading memories, too.

This is my first encounter with the series either in print or on screen.

A delightful book for young children or anyone learning English for the first time, it captivates and educates at the same time. When the planetarium that the class is supposed to visit turns out to be closed, the bus
Show More
transforms into a spaceship to take them through the solar system.

The format consists of three elements that work well together. First, there is the main story filled with facts about the solar system. Second, a comic book style of commentary by the class and teacher. Third, mini essays written by the students providing additional facts about the solar system.

I would recommend not just this book, but the entire series.

Ms. Frizzle plans to take the children in her fourth grade class to the planetarium, but when they get there, they find it closed for repairs. The children are disappointed, but their disappointment soon turns to excitement when the magic school bus takes them on a spectacular field trip through
Show More
the solar system where they learn about each of the planets.

Part of the Magic School Bus series, this charmingly-illustrated science-based book introduces young readers to the solar system. Written for young readers ages five through eight, this book is perfect for reading with an adult and is a delightful way to introduce young readers to the exploration of the solar system.

Although based in fact, parents should be prepared to answer the child’s questions about such things as why scientists changed Pluto’s designation from planet to dwarf planet and how many more moons scientists have discovered orbiting Jupiter and Saturn. Since the science here is exactly what most parents learned in school, the book becomes a springboard for discussing how scientists are always discovering new things and how those new discoveries help us to develop a better understanding of the world around us.

Highly recommended.

The magic school bus lost in the solar system by Joanna Cole
Story is written in a differnet order but all the parts are there.
Trip day in school and they are to visit the planetarium. Like all the different voices as I listen to this.
One of the kids states their school is better, higher, etc than
Show More
the ones the bus leaves from.
Lots of information is given while on the bus. The planetrium is closed for the day but the bus turns into a rocket and they are on their way of another crazy trip.
Then they find themselves floating-they are in space with spacesuits as the bus as turned into a vehicle that can travel on the planets.
They visit the moon, sun then all the planets in order. So fun to learn about the solar system in this way-from a kids point of view.
Love the question and answer section.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

Ms. Frizzle’s class is let down when they find out that the day they are supposed to have a fieldtrip to the planetarium it just happens to be closed. But never doubt Ms. Frizzle! She saves the day by turning her school bus into a spaceship and they take a zooming trip through the atmosphere.
While touring the atmosphere the class gets to land on the Moon, Venus and Mars. They also get to fly by the other planets, including the Sun. Talk about a stargazing field trip!!

I always loved reading the magic school bus books as a kid. They are so fun to read because of all the imagination throughout the book.

In the classroom I would put my students in pairs and have them create their own solar system out of whatever material they chose. I would make it a competition to where they get judged by other students and teachers and the winners get a prize. I would also have each student chose their favorite planet and write a research paper over it.

The Magic School Bus books are always a fun read for the class. This one talked about the solar system. It was in Spanish so I would only read it if it was appropriate. This is a great and fun book to introduce the solar system.
LibraryThing member mtrees
This is a good shared reading to teach a science lesson with. This Magic School bus book goes through the solar system and planets. This word is also best for shared reading because it does have some difficult vocabulary about the solar system. When teaching this book it would be best to review and
Show More
discuss the vocabulary before reading the book.
