Critiques: Although this book leads students through the growth of a sunflower, it is not an informational text, but a realistic text. It is a realistic text because the setting, characters, and events are all believable. The setting is a garden that any reader can relate to
This book has a background setting because the time and place does not effect the plot of the story. Although the girl is dressed in modern clothes, it is not relevant or important to the message of the story. The illustrator did a great job at showing a consistent setting though, which helped to understand the flow of the story better.

seeing before, the character is the girl planting the sunflower, and the event of the sunflower growing is an accurate representation of how sunflowers grow and develop.This book has a background setting because the time and place does not effect the plot of the story.
