This is a mildly cute, easy-to-read chapter book. Lots of illustrations throughout drive the story - that of a bad kitty having a birthday party. All his kitty friends are described, as well as their presents, the cake, the decorations, etc. I liked the other Bad Kitty books well enough, and this

was pretty funny, but nothing to write home about. Good for younger kids who might be too young for the Wimpy Kid series.

Silly, picture driven story about a cat and his birthday party.

Review: Happy Birthday Bad Kitty is an a book about a kitty who is having a birthday. Bad Kitty’s owner wants to make it the best birthday ever, but Bad Kitty does not want a party, just the cat scratcher that it saw in the Kitty Toys magazine. When all of Bad Kitty’s guests bring him less than

great presents, Bad Kitty becomes more and more mad!

Genre: This story is an example of fantasy. This story has the cats and kittens in it take on a mixture of their animal like qualities as well as human qualities such as speaking, feeling and thinking. The fact that Bad Kitty picks out the toy from the magazine and is anticipating and hoping for it, is a human like quality.

Point-of-view: The point of view used in Happy Birthday Bad Kitty, is from the perspective of the owner of Bad Kitty. Much of the time, the owner is talking to Bad Kitty. This also acts as a narrator type role, that helps the reader to know what is happening. Each of the cats and the dog, also have speaking bubbles in which they talk in 1st person. The author has done a great job at using different point of views to keep it interesting in this early reader chapter book.

The narrator of the story is the Kitty's owner. It is kitty's birthday and Kitty is not thrilled. All of the neighborhood cats are invited including some real characters like Pretty Kitty and Big Kitty. Suddenly all of Kitty's presents are missing and they go through the line up of who it could be.

It ended up being puppy. They try to make him a pinata. The owner makes a special cake for Bad Kitty and at the end, Kitty gets a gift from the owner he doesn't like so he ruins everything. Suddenly he gets a surprise gift to make his day. So fun and funny to read. Great book to get kids reading.

There's no doubt that Bad Kitty is bad. In this edition of Bad Kitty, all of her friends come over for a birthday party. The question is though, will Kitty get what she wants for her birthday?

This one was pretty educational for me. There were several things written about cats, and even tigers, that I didn't know. I laughed a few times at the lines, too, like this one:

"Often it is only the female lions that do the hunting while the male lions do most of the sleeping." "Hey! I like that

idea! Yo, Jeannie! Go get me a sandwich at the deli while I take a nap!"

It's safe to say, Jeannie was not pleased lol The only thing I really have to complain about is the use of the word "Kitty". Like, I get it, kids book and all, but jesus. I'm gonna be seeing the word "Kitty" in my nightmares. Actually, I'm gonna count how many times it was said in this book! Drum roll, please~! 115 times! Wow. This is not including the word "cat" or "kitties" and it doesn't include anything past the appendix.

Why didn't he give the cat a name, I wonder? Or is Kitty her name? Weird, it's like a more annoying version of Pokemon lol Even the dog is just named Puppy. What age range are these books? I know they are for kids, let's see... ages 9 - 12? I'm not really sure how a child would respond to how many times "Kitty" is used, honestly, but as an adult, I can safely say it's kind of annoying haha But this series is cute and educational and, as a cat lover, worth owning!
