There were a couple reasons as to why I really loved reading Gingerbread Man. First, I really loved how on one of the pages where an illustration should have been, there was a recipe for how to make gingerbread. This was a great way to start the book because whoever is reading it may be inspired to

make gingerbread and they only have to look in the book for a recipe. Second, I love how the words look on the page, in one part of the book the gingerbread man is running from the old lady who made him and as he is running the words look as if they are running with him creating the illusion of motion.
The big idea of the story is to stand up to your enemies. Just as the gingerbread man stood up to the old lady who wanted to eat him, it is always important to stand up for yourself.

I loved reading this version of “The Gingerbread Man” because of the vivid and fun pictures! It made reading the story even more interesting, as I have heard the story before, but not for a very long time! I love this book because although there are many different versions, I was able to
Show More
remember the line “you can’t catch me, I’m the Gingerbread Man!” as the Gingerbread Man runs away and causes trouble. This story is fun for all ages, which adds to the joy of reading! It’s a traditional story, so the base story is very widely known, which makes new versions of the story even more fun to read! The message of this book is that you should not trust anyone without consideration as to his or her motives. Everyone wants to eat the Gingerbread Man, but he is his own person, so do they really have the right? No!

I liked this story for a few reasons. The main idea of the story is to remember that you can’t trust everyone, and that it’s important to stand up for yourself. I liked that the illustrations enhanced the story. For instance, when the gingerbread man was running from the old lady, the image is
Show More
quite funny because you can see him dashing away with the flow of the pictures. I also liked the flow of the riddles, such as “Run, run as fast as you can, you can’t catch me, I’m the gingerbread man!” These lines made the story humorous and entertaining, making it a great read.

I enjoyed reading this book because I have never actually read the gingerbread man but I have heard the stories. The pictures in the book went along well with the text and I like how the text was set up. The pictures were very colorful and easy on the eye. They would be engaging for young readers

because it looked very welcoming. The text on the page was written in large font but when it said "run, run as fast as you can, you can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man!" it was written in waves as if the gingerbread man was singing it. This added more detail to the text and focused my attention on those words. The big idea of this story is to give beginning readers an interesting and engaging topic to read about.

I love this book! This was one of my favorite books as a child and I still enjoy reading it. This book show students a routine and steps. It also explains who the characters are and where the book is taking place. I would read this book and do a fun activity with the student afterwards.
