You Are a Lion! And Other Fun Yoga Poses by Tae-Eun Yoo is an interactive book that is in poetry form. This book is an invitation to yoga. Children will respond and interact with the text. The yoga poses described represents different animal. Here is one example: "Sit on your heels. Hands on your

knees. Tongue out! You are a...LION! King of the Jungle roaring so loud make the roots rumble." Children will then pretend to be a lion by roaring. Then the book does another yoga pose with a different animal.

This is a fun book to use in a Pre-Kindergarten or Kindergarten classroom. This can be used in the classroom as a form on "brain gym" or when students need a break. This book can also be used when learning about poetry or yoga.

This children's book is filled with yoga poses that children can relate to animals. It connects the yoga pose with and animal that it's similar too.

I loved this book. The first thing that I enjoyed about it was the way that it was organized. It gave instructions on a pose step by step on a plain background, and then on the next page there were illustrations covering every part when it was revealed what the animal the pose was emulating. For

example, on one page it was a picture of one girl doing the pose and the page ended "You are a..." and on the next page in bold red letter was "BUTTERFLY." The second page was filled with butterflies and flowers and the girl was in the middle doing the pose. Another thing that I liked was the accuracy of the book. Although the poses were simplified and given English names, they were correct. The book also used some of the traditional Sanskrit words that are used in yoga, such as Namaste. The book even ended with a meditation pose, which is true for yoga. The overall purpose of this book was to introduce children to the practice of yoga.

This book takes students through an interactive read. It allows students to try out the several yoga poses and talk about animals. I would suggest using this book when students are antsy and need to release a bit of energy.

Checked it out at the library, but now I want to own it. Great intro to yoga for very young kids- does a great job of making the poses mean something to the imagination. I enjoy doing them with my kids and want to bring it into the classroom as well. I think we would all feel more peaceful for it.

picture book (yoga for littles; toddler/preschool)
Occasionally I like to pull out a yoga pose or two to do with my toddler group, and this book has nice pictures that demonstrate simple poses that they can do, using language that they can understand. Diversity note: 3 of the children are white, 1

is black, 1 is asian and 1 is a dark-skinned boy with straightish dark hair (which can be interpreted a number of different ways).
