A little green light learns to say his first word . . .GO! and children learn the power of words. GO is a fine word, but it can cause trouble if no one says STOP.

I remember reading books as a child where the machines and cars has faces, and I loved them. Cars and trucks do look like they have expressions. With a totally prek mindset, Harper's talking trucks will entertain the kids; her precise vocabulary (machines life, scoop, mix, push, hold) and her use

of alliteration (crane carried carefully, the mixer mixed marvelously and the dump truck dumped dependably) will hold appeal for the teacher. Also teaches the concepts of red, green, and in the end, the yellow - slow down - caution light.

Summary:
Go! Go! Go!: Stop! is a book about a little green circle who only knows the word "go." The town that he lives in is building a bridge and at first the word "go" is exactly what all of the other little trucks, cranes and mixers needed to hear. As the day continued on, hearing "go, go, go"

made everyone work too crazy. Luckily a stranger comes into the town and is known as little red. Little red only knows of one word as well, but that word is "stop!" After all the crazy working the little trucks are so happy to hear the word "stop." Little red and little green begin to work together and eventually are able to help the town as partners. At the end of a story, we see a new friend comes into town, known as little yellow. As you may have guessed little yellow only knows one word, and that is slow down.

Review:
This book is great for early beginner readers. The author uses the little trucks to integrate various adjectives which are helpful to broaden a child's vocabulary. Little red and little green learn the lesson of working as a pair in this book, a lesson which many children have difficulty grasping the concept of at a young age.

Very hard to read for storytime, but I think it'd be fun for a one-on-one read.
