This was one of the better animal hero collections that I had the pleasure of being able to read for it not only included heroic pets but it also included some wild animals who had helped humans and also some of the numerous war-animals that have helped us in battles against ourselves.
The stories
The only complaints I have is the author did go outside of the known experience by making up some parts of the story to try to put you in the minds of the animals, which can be either good or bad for you. My main concern was the fact that the book was published in 1997 but you didn't have many modern stories for that with stories ranging for the most part from the 1970s-1980s.

were short, simple to follow and some of them included sketched pictures of the animals being included in the stories.
