Poor Billy Bloo gets stuck in goo, and finds that all of his would-be rescuers get stuck too in this hilarious rhyming picture-book from author Jennifer Hamburg and illustrator Ross Burach. From the cowgirl to the Queen, the wizard to the octopus, all the well-meaning passers-by only make a greater
The first picture-book that I have read from Hamburg, Billy Bloo Is Stuck in Goo is a wonderfully rollicking rhyme of a tale, one that just begs to be read aloud. The cadence works so well here, and the addition of each passerby to the list of those stuck in goo - suggestive of a cumulative tale - is so humorous, that the reading experience is a true pleasure. I don't know that I loved Burach's illustrations here as much as I did the text, but they certainly are colorful and humorous. Recommended to anyone looking for entertaining new picture-books in rhyme!
