The setting in this story is in England, about this time of year. The main characters are Permanent Rose, Caddy, Michael, Indigo, Saffy, Eve, Bill, Samantha, Sarah, David, and Tom. I liked the strong attitude in Permanent Rose, somtimes i can relate to her. The Whole Casson Family (which is Eve,

She looks for Caddy and finds her asleep. When the arrive London, Caddy sees Rose and asks her a bunch of questions. When they get to Bill and Samanthas apartment, Rose gives Caddy the ring and Caddy departs once back to Michael and leaves Rose with Samantha and Bill. I adore the "darling Casson family," and I'm not sure, but I think surly lovely artist Rose is my favorite. What I like so much about this family is that they are who they are, and no one in the family is ever trying to turn someone else into something they aren't. They are all so downright

Casson-ish. I'd love to live next door to these folks. Well, maybe not the guinea pigs, but otherwise, they'd be wonderful neighbors.

This book I have read previously but listened to with my daughter on audio book. This is the third book in the series by Hillary McKay. I love the wacky Casson afmily with the flaky mom and the independent self reliant kids. I think this book has value in many ways. It is set in London and shows

how the family survives. I like the underlying discussion of art that are in all the books, also what is love and what makes a family. These books are entertaining and appeal to many ages and both genders. The structure of the books with one named for each child. It delightful as we get to know about the family and the stronger voice of each child. My daughter who is 8 loved this book because of it's character Rose who is also 8. She also runs the family in her own way and this is very apparent in this book.

This is my favourite of the Casson Family series. Rose is determined to make sure that Caddie marries Michael so takes her engagement ring so that Caddie can't lose it or give it back. She is also worried that they haven't heard from Tom and Saffy is trying to find out who her father is.

The story was written from the viewpoint of young adults. The story was a little slow. Several genres and subjects were included such as history, fiction, and humorous with subjects ranging from adultery to bullying. The story had a few different characters but the cultures seemed very similar. The

decisions the young adults make are simply decisions that are made by young adults and consequences have to be paid but there were also the protective decisions that were also made on behalf of the characters. The young adults have many emotions in this story that were extreme and some were moderate for young adults. One of the problems such as the stealing was wrapped up a little too quickly. The finding out of where Tom was located was really reaching when the two girls went over to the school to find out the address and phone number for Tom. Overall the story is heartwarming, touching, and had a few ah hah moments that kept even an adult reading until the end.

The summer that Indy's friend Tom leaves for New York to care for his baby sister in America, the family grows up and makes some mature decisions. Cassy vacillates between wanting to marry Michael and breaking off the engagement. Saffy and her friend Sarah turn to the Internet to find Saffy's

biological father, and Rose's shoplifting habits intensify as she tries to fill the void of Tom's absence. This book has a fast moving plot that keeps the reader interest.

Still loving this series. I am impressed by how the characters keep getting richer and more complicated, and how interesting new characters keep showing up (I especially love the treatment of reformed bully David here). On to the next!

Sequel to "Saffy's Angel" and "Indigo's Star." This series of books about the Casson family focuses on 8-year-old Rose. The family had befriended young Tom, an American visitor to England, over the summer but his sudden departure for a family emergency has left Rose bereft. She waits everyday for

the postman, hoping for a letter from Tom. When the phone rings, she thinks it's Tom. She even goes to Tom's grandmother's house but she's gone, too. In her drawings and dreams, she imagines a reunion with Tom. Then Rose has a sudden opportunity to fly to New York City with her father. She's convinced she'll see Tom again so family friends Sarah and David rush desperately to find Tom's contact info and let him know that Rose is coming. The British humor and feel of this story made this hard to really like at first, but I got more involved as the stakes rose with Saffy's hunt for her father and Rose's need to see Tom.

Jolly good fun, like all the Casson books.

Oh, gosh, more Casson craziness than I can begin to explain! Rose and Indigo are sad because Tom went back to America and hasn’t written or called, Caddy is conflicted about the gorgeous diamond and platinum engagement ring she accepted from Darling Michael, and Saffron is suddenly determined to

find out who her biological father is.

These characters continue to delight. Read this series if you enjoy character-driven juvenile fiction; I’d recommend it to adults as well as children. Start with Saffy’s Angel to get the full effect.
