Description
Book Five of the New York Times bestselling and Eisner-award winning series brings us to the final chapter of Bloom County. This volume of Berkeley Breathed's Pulitzer Prize winning opus (sorry!) runs from November 30th, 1987 through August 6, 1989 - the day day Breathed, at the top of his game both critically and in circulation, walked away from Bloom County, leaving us only fond memories and this wonderful Bloom County Library so we can revisit Opus, Bill, Steve, Milo, and all the rest any time we want!

And so it ends.
This one only gets 4 stars and not because Bloom County ended with this set of strips. It is because Breathed was tired of doing the strip but kept on, probably for contractual reasons or some such, and his boredom and anger showed up a little too often. He reminds me of the later

years of George Carlin, when being funny was more about being screamingly angry, bitter, and frustrated than just sitting to one side poking at the weirdness that is our world. That's what happened here, and for better or worse, it isn't something I enjoy. I have entirely too much anger, bitterness, and frustration of my own to want to take on someone else's when I really just need reminders of how to sit at the side and poke. Show Less
