Cruel Tales (The World's Classics)

This collection of 27 stories is the only edition available in English. Villiers was much admired by contemporaries such as Yeats and Verlaine. Some of these tales are exotic and mythical while others convey a picture of glittering Paris life. The text and introduction of this edition were previously published in the Oxford Library of French Classics.
