Brian Clegg has collated over 100 often mind-blowing science facts in the form of a quiz, either to be used in a pub quiz or to test your own knowledge. The subjects cover everything from traditional biology, chemistry and physics to space, technology and maths. Each question is followed by the

answer with additional information limited to one page, which is both the book's strength and flaw: its strength because the author manages to explain even complicated science in a way that makes it understandable to someone unfamiliar with the topic, its flaw because the self-imposed limit of one page maximum occasionally (especially in physics, I found) makes the explanation difficult to follow when I would have preferred more extensive background information in order to put one and one together. There is a two-page recommended reading list at the back if a particular topic has sparked your interest and you want to find out more.

I found this perfect bedtime reading when I was too tired to pick up any of my other books.
