This page-turner is a suspense-filled story right from the beginning with an abandoned baby in peril of freezing to death in the harsh Michigan winter. It's a book that I did not want to put down, and therefore, I read it over the space of a 24-hour period. The characters were familiar to me as I

had read an earlier Rock Harbor mystery, but even if this is your first Colleen Coble novel, the characters will seem like family before too many pages. The people of the small Michigan town are easy to know.

What a complex turn of events Bree has to face! After grieving for her first husband, who died in a plane crash, Bree is happily married for the second time, when husband number one reappears. Is he a ghost or a windigo as some claim? What connection is there to the missing babies? Was a woman murdered, or was it an unfortunate accident?

Interwoven is the continuing story of Samson, a search and rescue dog. If you enjoy suspense, this one's for you.

Another really good romantic suspense story set in the town of Rock Harbor. I encourage others to read these stories in order, this being the last one (so far). You will come to think of this town and these people as real folks, with their failures and problems and their love of family and

friends.

In this story an abandoned baby is left in the woods and Bree Matthews and her dog Samson find this baby. Now they must search for the parents, without growing too attached to the infant. There are also other babies coming up missing, along with several dead bodies of women. Bree and her husband (who also has problems at work), try to figure out what is going on, while keeping an eye on their 8 year old son, who was almost snatched up. I won't give away the shocking new reveal in this story, but will say the author always does a great job of surprising me with who the "bad guy" is in her stories. This was no exception.

My rating is 5 out of 5 stars.
Rock Harbor, Michigan is a beautiful place in the winter, but it can also be dangerous, even deadly. Bree Matthews is searching for a missing social worker when

she and her dog, Samson, discover a baby in a backpack carrier hidden behind some try limbs. Bree takes the baby home and notifies the authorities. In the meantime, there are reports of Native American babies that have gone missing, but that doesn’t fit the description of the baby Bree found. Then, Bree discovers the body of her son’s tutor. The missing social worker also is discovered dead as well. What is going on in Rock Harbor?
Meanwhile, Bree and Kade are struggling to have a baby of their own. Kade’s job is in jeopardy due to budget cuts, and Kade’s sister, Lauri, has gotten herself into another major mess. On top of that, someone from Bree’s past returns to Rock Harbor with their sites set on taking her son, Davy, away from her. As Bree tries to pull all the information together to solve the crimes, a blizzard hits the town and Davy is out in it. As she and Kade race to the rescue, they discover the answers to the murders, kidnapping, blackmail and more, but at what cost?
This was a nail-biter for me. I couldn’t put the book down. I had to find out the answers to my questions! Kade’s sister continues to be self-centered and selfish. I hope her character matures in future novels. Bree continues to be a compassionate, hospitable, kind woman. I have enjoyed seeing her relationship with Kade strengthen, and it undergoes trials in this story. Samson is still the wonder dog with a big heart. Young Davy is now almost eight years old and has been through trials in his young life, but he has accepted Kade as his new dad and Kade loves him like he was his own.
FYI: I numbered this as Rock Harbor book four in the series as that is what the cover I have says, but many others have this as book five. I believe there is a novella that is being counted as book four.
