Review: This is part two a series. I find the pace to be fast and steady. It was a pretty quick read. The setting is Tennessee, Nashville more specifically with great writing and well written. I am now looking forward to the third in this thrilling series. There are two story lines going on at once. One is the current mystery and the other is Nikki’s missing sister. Both are gripping. If you did not read the first book it does a decent job of providing details about the need to know things from book 1 without spoiling the book. The current mystery takes up the majority of the time with a lot of action and sadly death. While there is violence it is not in graphic detail nor over blown. The transitions from one event to another are mostly smooth and easily followed. The ending was like watching the end of a fireworks display, in some respects you sit and process the details and in another respect you were wishing it could continue. Overall a great mystery with a thrill of romance/friendship, Just enough details that kept me hooked.

I would like to thank Net Galley and Revell for allowing me to read and review this book in return for a free copy and I was never asked to write a favorable review by anyone. Missing is the second book in the Nikki Boyd Files and is another great action mystery. I liked seeing how the author was able to combine the new story and mix in some of the ongoing story that involves Nikki's sister. This book added to what we knew of the characters from the first story, but in
Show More
such a way that you did not have to had read it.
Nikki usually works with missing persons, but when a homicide involves a missing person as well, she finds herself involved. She then finds herself involved personally when the case takes her to a boat of a friend of hers and she finds herself protecting his family as well. The book combined the elements of Nikki's personal life as well as her professional life in a way that you found yourself wanting to turn to the back of the book to see how it all was going to turn out.
I received a copy from the author to read and review.

Title: Missing (The Nikki Boyd Files #2)
Author: Lisa Harris
Pages: 320
Year: 2016
Publisher: Revell
My rating is 5 stars.
Simply put, awesome! In book two of the series, Nikki’s interested in more than just being friends with Tyler. The only problem is she doesn’t know how Tyler feels about her and
Show More
she is scared to lose his friendship. Plus, in this sequel, there is another case that soon grows out of proportion to what at first became a missing person’s case.
This story seemed to have more action, adventure, danger, etc. Plus, while Nikki’s sister is still missing, Nikki has to decide whether she wants to remain in the force or go back to teaching kindergartners. Tyler is ready to move forward in his life, but he isn’t sure in any area how without it affecting his son Liam. Tyler wants to have a job that fits his personality and uses his military experience, but he doesn’t want to be in school or behind a desk.
The questions being asked by Nikki and Tyler about many aspect of life, work and faith do reach some conclusion. However, the book is left on a cliffhanger that makes me long to read the next installment coming out in 2017 titled Pursued. I found the novel had me chasing a few rabbit trails in figuring out who the main antagonist was, but that also kept me turning pages!
The only almost “unreal” aspect was how Nikki seemed to keep being saved “in the nick of time” by either Tyler or someone else. While Nikki being saved right before she might perish makes for a lighter story, it just seemed to cast a somewhat unenjoyable aspect to the book. I am sure people know agents do lose their life in the line of duty and some do get saved. Those moments when Nikki got rescued were rushed moments in the storyline, but I really enjoyed book two more than the first book. However, book one established the main characters along with their different backgrounds so it would be helpful to read Vendetta before Missing.
Disclosure of Material Connection: I received one or more of the products or services mentioned above for free in the hope that I would mention it on my blog. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers. Fans of romantic suspense cannot go wrong with author Lisa Harris. In the second book of her Nikki Boyd Files series, Missing, you’ve got the whole package: fast-paced action with twists and turns to keep both the characters and the reader off-balance and a developing romance that is very
Show More
natural. While you can certainly read this novel as a standalone, I recommend you begin with Vendetta. You don’t want to miss anything from this talented author.

Nikki Boyd works on the Missing Person’s Task Force within the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation. The last place they are usually called to is a murder scene, but two people are missing and time is running out as the murder count rises and the danger increases. There is also a very personal connection for Nikki. Her long time friend, Tyler is soon drawn into the case. Will Nikki be able to solve the case before it’s too late?

There are several elements that make Missing an excellent choice for those who like their suspense with sparks. Nikki and Tyler are credible and relatable characters with believable emotions and actions. Their relationship changes naturally one the course of the book. Both characters are believers in Christ and turn to Him for guidance and strength. Nikki’s dedication to her job stems from her own missing person experience and that story line and search for closure also continues in Missing. The all too real mystery involving counterfeit drugs and its impact on patient safety and well-being keeps the reader engaged and thinking. The third person account lets the reader in on the what Nikki discovers, but keeps you guessing up until the end. As the case is solved, there are a few loose ends in the unfolding romance between Nikki and Tyler and in Nikki’s sister’s own case — I’m really looking forward to more great writing, wonderful characters and action-packed suspense in book 3, Pursued.

Recommended,

Audience: adults.
