As always with Lisa Gardner’s books it is very hard to review without giving anything away, but I will try…I really enjoyed Tessa in this one and her interaction with Wyatt a small town sheriff whom I also really liked and hope to see more of the two of them in future. We get a little touch of DD but that was all that was needed, I will admit to hoping when the FBI swooped in it might be one of the Quincy’s but no such luck! Then there is the kidnapped family who we get to know intimately flaws and all and you can’t help but hope everything works out for them. The kidnappers are interesting too she doesn’t give us cardboard cutouts but fleshed-out characters who we also get to know. As I said Lisa Gardner knows how to write a great suspense filled novel, I was up until 2 am for a few nights in a row and had to force myself to go to bed because I didn’t want to stop reading!

recommend reading Love You More before this book so you understand Tessa’s background) it was a nice follow up so we we’re able to see how her and her daughter are doing since the events in Love You More. Tessa is now working for a private security firm and one of their top clients seems to be missing and not just him, his whole family.As always with Lisa Gardner’s books it is very hard to review without giving anything away, but I will try…I really enjoyed Tessa in this one and her interaction with Wyatt a small town sheriff whom I also really liked and hope to see more of the two of them in future. I would actually give this 3.5 stars. It was a good book not great but it was ok. It wasn't my favorite book of hers but it still had a lot of suspense, thrill, romantic interests and terror. Had no clue who the bad guy was until the end.

Tessa Leoni is a private investigator, hired by the Denbe Construction company to perform an ancillary investigation into the disappearance of the Denbe family. All anyone knows is that the family disappeared on a Friday night and no ransom demand has been made. The Boston Police is initially on the case and there's a brief appearance by D. D. Warren. Once it is revealed that the abductors have crossed state lines into New Hampshire, the FBI and New Hampshire authorities are brought into the case. Wyatt Foster is a New Hampshire sheriff. Once he’s brought in on the case he quickly launches a plan to eliminate as much state land as possible in the search for the Denbes and the abductors. The investigation quickly reveals that the abductors must have had inside information given the security at the Denbe home and their knowledge of floor layouts and the Denbe's activities. Then the investigators are informed of the embezzling of millions of dollars over more than a dozen years at Denbe Construction. What exactly does the embezzling have to do with the abductions? Will the investigators be able to piece everything together and find the family alive?
Touch & Go is filled with drama, hints of romance, mystery and suspense. Ms. Gardner does a fabulous job of bringing all of the characters to life, as well as creating scenarios that are all too believable. The story has quite a few twists and turns leading the reader from one assumption to another while cleverly revealing tidbits that provide the final clues to the mystery. There are a lot of characters to keep track of, but with some in law enforcement, others in the construction business and then the "bad guys," it is quite easy to keep them all straight. Don't know if it was just me but everything seemed to fall into threes. There are three abductors: Mick, Radar and Z; three family members: Libby, Justin and Ashlyn; three main players in the construction company: Anita Bennett, Chris Lopez and Ruth Chan; and, three main investigators: Tessa Leoni, Wyatt Foster and lead FBI agent Nicole Adams (former lover to Wyatt Foster). I doubt if the repetition of three means anything, but I found it interesting. I've enjoyed reading a number of Ms. Gardner's books in the past and Touch & Go was another well-crafted and enjoyable read. The story develops in layers and the mystery is then uncovered layer-by-layer with little surprises tucked inside of some of the layers. As I previously stated, there's a lot going on in this story, but it all comes together quite nicely in the end with a few surprises. If you enjoy reading mystery-suspense then you want to add Touch & Go to your list of upcoming reads.

turns as all Gardner's books and Tessa Leoni is back, now as a corporate investigator. This time round she is paired up with New Hampshire sheriff Wyatt. It is an excellent partnership and looks as if it is here to stay for a while....something for Lisa Gardner's fans to look forward to.My only criticism is that the book is over long and a little predictable as it came to a conclusion...but I forgave it for that as it was such a page turner!

I think it would have been helpful to reread the last book before starting this one as I kept trying to remember all the details of exactly what happened with Tessa Leoni in the last book. disappointing and too long. There wasn’t enough suspense and the story sometimes dragged. Plus, the bad guy went far out of his way to reach his goal. The story was such an interesting story from a few different perspectives, but not too many. There seemed to be a new twist and turn in each chapter that made you wonder and change your mind about what was going to happen. The writing was spectacular and insightful! It flowed very smoothly, and kept you wanting to read until the very last page, and even once you hit the last page, it left you wanting nothing but more, more more! I thought it would take me hours to fall asleep after finishing this book because my mind was racing so fast to grasp it around everything that was going on in the book. It was very complex and intriguing!
I had many ideas throughout the story as to what the outcome would be. But even if you guessed at one time what the outcome was, by the time the next chapter rolled around, and you were sure that it was another scenario. It was definitely and edge-of-your seat kind of thrilling suspense novel.
The characters were so in depth and easy to identify with and it was so nice to hear from Tessa Leoni again from Love You More. After reading the synopsis, I had wondered if Detective DD Warren would even be part of this story, but she was for a very short time! In the beginning, I was afraid that I would not be as excited about this book without DD in it, however, even after her last part in the story, I found that I had forgotten that she had even disappeared, and I also found that it didn't bother me. Touch & Go contained very rich and deep characters that were enjoyable to read about.
Just as with any other Lisa Gardner book that I have read, this book has left me with a huge urge to read another great book. This author has completely mastered the ability to write a killer mystery/suspense novel and in my opinion, is one the the best in her genre. She never ceases to amaze me with her powerful writing abilities!
There is not one single person that I would not recommend this book to. I honestly think this has become one of my all-time favorite reads! You can't go wrong with this nail-biting-till-the end story!

It took me ages to read it, but that is in no way a reflection on the quality of the book. I go through phases when I just can't focus on reading for more than a few minutes...the strength of this book is that it got me back OUT of such a phase and gripped me

This is a thriller and a fascinating look at a family falling apart, as well as how a family copes when they are kidnapped, beaten and forced to face some hard truths.

The story was well written and the mystery was subtle enough so I don’t think you’ll be able to figure out what is going on too soon. The characters are well fleshed and believably written. The action may feel a little slow, since I don’t think this is an “action book” as some might, and that caused no discomfort for me as I was reading. Sometimes the story was a little slow, but this slowness was necessary. There are a myriad of characters and that may make it difficult at times to follow along.
A family is kidnapped, beaten and held; not quit hostage at first but with that as a threat. We meet a wealthy father who is important in the large project building trades, a lovely mother who is a jewelry designer and a sweet, pretty and smart teenager that never causes her parents a moment’s despair. And each one holds within a dirty little secret. Some secrets are more deadly than others are though.
I love the fact that for me, the mystery of who was who and what was what was so subtle that I didn’t catch on until I was nearly finished with the book. I really loved this book to the point that I must read some others of hers to see if this had been a lucky chance or not.

At this point, I loved this book so much I already have Tessa’s book on my wish list!The story was well written and the mystery was subtle enough so I don’t think you’ll be able to figure out what is going on too soon. missed a previous book dealing with Tessa, the private detective, from parts of her past that were mentioned but never explained in a lot of detail, but I never felt like it took away from this story. Though it switches from first person with Libby's side and back to third person with Tessa, I didn't find it to be a determent. Normally I don't really like books that switch back and forth between the two, but this one did it well. Full of family secrets that come to light and twists that keep you guessing up until the end, this is an entertaining and suspenseful read that I didn't want to put down until the end.

investigative training or experience. Sure, her new employer has put her through some courses, but she shouldn’t be allowed to touch this situation at all. If you read enough of this kind of thing though, the real villain isn’t hard to spot. Libby’s character was reminiscent of Tessa herself though and I had a bit of trouble separating their narratives in my mind. Eventually I’ll get onto the third in the series, just to see if she and Wayne do get together and if it works. Show Less

I would actually give this 3.5 stars. It was a good book not great but it was ok. It wasn't my favorite book of hers but it still had a lot of suspense, thrill, romantic interests and terror. Had no clue who the bad guy was until the end.
