This was a masterful offering by veteran storyteller Mary Higgins Clark. This is a book of short stories, the first of which was one which the author had left unfinished for many years, finally bringing it to our attention in this volume. The book also features her first published story
Of course, the inclusion of such favorites as Alvirah and Willy Meehan, and former President Henry Britland IV and his "Girl Sunday" (his wife) Sandra, make this book extremely pleasurable to read.

After nabbing this book from a cruise ship lending library, I was disappointed to find it was stories instead of a novel. The stories were excellent and compelling. Still prefer the prolonged joy of reading her full-length novels. Mary Higgins Clarke is the queen of suspense
