Nora continues to be one of the absolute best writers out there. Her characters are so good, you feel like they are good friends immediately. She is amazing at developing a character, and with real depth, so quickly and completely that the reader feels as though they've known them forever. This is
Show More
a unique story for me, as someone involved in renovation and family businesses, but I enjoyed it all the more because of it.

Great characters; a good plot; can't wait for book #3!

Guilty pleasure. All of Nora Robert's heroines and heroes have nearly the same "voice" and ultimately, the story is the same, no matter what the details are. Sometimes it's just nice to read something like this, though...

Its a good book. It has a familar feel of the books. Ghosts, building inn. Did enjoy it. thier were two many sex scenes in it.

This was another heart-warming romance from a master of the genre. Owen Montgomery and Avery McTavish have been friends since they were children. In fact, he was her first boyfriend since she told him they were going to get married when they grew up when she was only six. But over the years, while
Show More
they had a solid friendship, there were no romantic sparks.

While Avery is a wonderful friend, she has some issues about her ability to sustain a lasting relationship. After all, her mother abandoned her and her father to run off with another man when Avery was only thirteen. Avery is afraid that she might be like her faithless and selfish mother. Owen is the product of a strong and loving marriage who has always had the security of knowing that he was loved by both of his parents.

Their personalities are rather different too. Avery can be impulsive and is a bit of a free spirit as evidenced by her ever changing hair color. Owen is an organized and sometimes anal list maker. He is the one who keeps everyone on schedule and handles the details for the family business he runs with his mother and two brothers.

When they suddenly start to see each other romantically both have to readjust their thinking. Neither one of them wants to mess up their friendship. It was great to see them fall in love and watch them work out their relationship.

Relationships are why I read Nora Roberts. She is such a wonderful writer of strong, loving families and caring, supportive friends. I would love to be a part of the great family circles she creates where all of the people love each other. The brothers tease and pick at each other but there is no question that they will do anything for each other. Their strong relationship with their mother is also amazing. And the friendship between Avery, Hope and Clare is a model for a perfect friendship.

I recommend this story for anyone who wants a feel-good romance. This is book two in a trilogy. You should look for THE NEXT ALWAYS to catch up and be watching for THE PERFECT HOPE to finish up the trilogy next November.

5 stars... of course, love this series... It really reminds me of the Robin Carr series, Virgin River, and Nora Roberts won't publish the last of the trilogy fast enough for me!

Great followup novel to the Next Always title of the Inn Boonsboro tirilogy. The story lines were funny, romantic and interesting. The only thing I didn't like about the book was the often use of curse words. They were used too often and took away from the story, rather than, adding to it.

Okay. I made it through 3-1/2 discs (out of 9) and GAVE UP. The storyline has no steam, and I don't mean this in a 'sexual' way.
NOTHING seemed to be pushing the story along, NOTHING enticed me to continue, and NOTHING tried to maintain my interest, as I sat in storyline limbo. Wow.
Having not
Show More
read the story's backpage summary, I wasn't sure who the H AND H were. Was the heroine Avery? or Hope? (I was rooting for Hope).
Was the hero going to Ryder? or Owen? (Ryder seemed to show the potential).
FINALLY, because no one character stepped forward to claim either H/H prize, I gave up and read the summary. It didn't help.
Maybe when Ryder and Hope's story comes out, I'll try again. But then again, maybe not. This trilogy (Inn BoonsBoro) imbues the word "trilogy" with bad connotations. Ugh.

Another great book from Nora Roberts. Second in the Inn Boonsboro trilogy. Great characters and good interactions between the families and friends. Love the addition of home improvement/remodeling descriptions and even the paranormal encounters with the ghost who haunts the Inn. Loved it and can't
Show More
wait for the final entry in the triology.

Loved book 1, love book 2. What can I say, Nora Roberts once again knows what she is doing! LOVED IT!

I really enjoyed book one of the trilogy and couldn't wait to read book two. While the story was nice, in the end, I was a bit bored. I found myself wanting to flip forward pages (never a good sign). Our hero is almost too sweet and perfect, with no edge at all. I think book three has more promise
Show More
as Ry will be an edgier hero than his brother was. Avery was likeable but it wasn't quite enough to sustain a book of this length. I wasn't bothered by the ghost story line, at least that added a little zest.

The Inn Boonsboro is almost ready for its grand opening, so it's time for the second Montgomery brother to get his romance. Owen has been friends with Avery for their whole lives; now their relationship moves to a new level. Meanwhile, they make some interesting discoveries about the inn's resident
Show More
ghost.

This is a Nora Roberts novel. Enough said.

Good vacation read. Relaxing small town story.

The second installment in the Inn Boonsboro trilogy features pizzaria owner Avery MacTavish and second Montgomery son Owen. Avery is tiny, red-haired, energetic and scared by her mother's abandonment when she was young. Owen is methodical, fond of schedules and lists, and Avery. The lady ghost
Show More
makes more appearances, and of course there are sparks between the soon to be matched in a third installment innkeeper Hope and final brother Ryder.

This is a sweet, fluffy, not terribly surprising read - good for an afternoon curl-up, but not something you'll find yourself staying up all night to read.

The Inn at Boonsboro is almost finished and ready to accomodate guests. The first wedding at the Inn is Beckett, one of the sons and architect of the building, and Clara.
One of the other brothers, Owen, is sweet on Avery. Avery manages The Vesta, which a restaurant specializing pizza and other
Show More
Italian dishes. Avery's mom left her dad when she was twelve, so she isn't very trusting of people. The ghost of the Inn still makes herself known and the family are doing some research into her past as to who she is and who is the 'Billy" in her past.
I can not wait to read the 3rd book to find out who the ghost really is and who might marry next.

Exactly what I expect and want from a Nora Roberts novel - this was just what I needed to be reading when I read it.

Nora is as Nora does.
Likeable characters, interesting setup.

No real conflict, but there is a ghost and some over-50 hanky-panky.

MacLeod Andrews' narration is enjoyable and smoother than the first in the trilogy.

I enjoyed this story more than the first title in this slightly paranormal trilogy by Nora Roberts. Avery and Owen's long history seemed to help speed the story along, plus the Inn is in its' final stages.

The Last Boyfriend by Nora Roberts
Owen Montgomery owned the inn along with his brothers and their spouses, among other buildings in town. The brothers know carpentry and architecture. They had plans to open by Jan 15th and it was closing in on Dec.
Avery MacTavish owned and ran the pizza place
Show More
across the street from the Inn. She often would let Owen sit and do his calculations and other quiet business things before he had to head back to physically work at the Inn.
They meet to help others fix up the Inn and Owen has a family/friend party on New Year's Eve and she stays the night. Other plans are made about other buildings he owns and more plans for the Inn.
Love not only the Irish legends but the whole family and how they help one another out, of any circumstance they have gotten themselves into.
Didn't realize this was the 2nd of the trilogy and that's probably why it took me a bit of time to get into the characters. Now they are like friends and I know who is who. Still not sure about why the bedrooms at the Inn are names but I'm sure I'll discover that in the first book.
The Inn is about to open for guests and many of the clan have seen/interacted with Elizabeth the resident ghost. When they have more time they will try to figure out who Billy is, the one she's waiting for all the time.
Weddings and other venues for the Inn fit right into their plans. Symbols to represent other things in their lives hold a special meaning.
Gonna be fun to read the book prior to this and the one following.

Owen Montgomery is an organised man, to a fault, however the only thing that can distract him is Avery McTavish. They were childhood sweethearts and although they drifted apart they're now starting to drift together.

As usual you know where it's going, it was pretty predictable but the dialogue
Show More
sparkled and the scene with Owen and his mum and her lover... oh man I laughed out loud at the three of them. Plus the occasional flashbacks he had. I'm smiling at the memory.

Fairly typical Nora Roberts fare and you can almost see how she uses reality as a backdrop for forging a story around it.

I didn't love Next Always so I had mixed reservations when I started to read Last Boyfriend and I LOVED this one. It made me almost want to give Next Always another try.

Owen, the detail man, and Avery, the pizza shop owner and restauranteur, have been friends forever and soon they realize they
Show More
mean more to each other than they cared to admit.

There are some surprises which I loved and I have to admit I fell in love with Avery's dad Willy B... how could you not?

One of my friends mentioned that it was hard to keep the cast of characters straight where I loved it, it made me feel part of the family.

The first three chapters were a bit slow but once the action started I couldn't put it down.

Also, Beckett and Claire's story is continued and you get to learn more about Lizzy the ghost.

"Owen is the organizer of the Montgomery brothers, running the family's construction business with an iron fist - and an even less flexible spreadsheet. And though his brothers bust on his compulsive list-making, the Inn BoonsBoro is about to open right on schedule. The only thing Owen didn't plan
Show More
for was Avery McTavish... Avery's popular pizza place is right across the street from the inn, giving her a first-hand look at its amazing renovation - and a newfound appreciation for Owen. Since he was her first boyfriend when they were kids, Owen has never been far from Avery's thoughts.

Great read and falling in love with the characters and the setting of this quaint town! Read the excerpt of Book 3 -the Perfect Hope) -can't wait to read the book when it comes out in Nov to see what happens to the ghost Lizzy, and hopefully a little romance between Hope and Ryder! A great read! "

This second book in the series is an easy, light, enjoyable read. The edge from the first book didn't seem to materialize in this one. I think Hope and Ry could be an interesting story.
