This informational book explains how the skeleton is made of bones and how it works. It gives several comparisons of how our body uses bones and what bones need to stay healthy.

For me, this book is very useful to explain to smaller children the body's skeleton. I really liked how it uses

comparisons and it has good pictures to explain in detail the purpose of many different bones.

As an extension, the children could look at a real skeleton and identify some of the bones. It would also be helpful if a doctor could visit and help the children identify the bones and also give some advice on bone health. Next, just like in the book, they could examine different things and find their skeletons. Finally they could draw a picture of themselves as a skeleton.

This book could be utilized in a health class or in any science class grades 1-6. The book can be utilized to bring up the topic of the human body and bones. The text is very informational, but not very detailed. The reader learns all of the bones of the body and the function of bones, but it does

not go very in depth beyond these key ideas. Students would typically hear this book read to them if they were a younger grade, or it could be utilized independently in an older grade for students to reference when learning about where specific bones are located.
