A wonderful book that illustrates visual perceptions and complementary colors in an interactive format. It really gives the reader an opportunity to "Look long enough" to begin to see the world as an artist might.

A fun book that could be used to teach kids about color concepts!

Another wonderful book!!! I can totally see this in a classroom when learning about the primary colors and how they mix together to create more wonderful colors. The tricks it plays on the eyes is so much fun!! A very interactive book! I think it is so cute how the baby frog is able to see the
Show More
colors but the mom can not. I think it is important for kids to feel smart and clever.

A beautiful book with a wonderful story exploring complementary colours. Unfortunately for me, it relies on the "Magic Eye" technique which I have never been able to do. (I have astigmatism and strongly suspect that that is what prevents me from being able to do this.) Therefore it is one which my
Show More
husband will have to explore with my daughter, rather than me.

This is a story about a frog, and he is tellng his mother who he wants to invite for his birthday. When the animals start to show up such as Red fox (it's really green), purple butterfly (it's really yellow), orange cat (it's really blue), the aninmals were not these colors at all. (You have to
Show More
stare at a little balck dot on the animal for ten seconds. Then you have to look at the blank white page and the animal will appear the color it is suppose to.) The frogs mother tells her baby that the animals are not the color he says they are. The baby frogtell her that she has not looked at them long enought. Then at the end of the book you see all of the animals and their correct colors. This would be a great book for younger students. They sentences repeat themselves. There are many different animals, and the pictures are wonderful. I also think they will be amazed at the animals changing colors if they do it correctly.

Little frog has friends over for his birthday party. The animals names are colors they aren't; Example: the red fox is really a green fox. Illustractions are designed to demonstrate the concept of complementary colors.

Little Frog wants his mom to invite over some of his friends including Red Fox, Purple Butterfly, Blue Fish, and many more! When his friends arrive at his birthday party, Mama Frog tells Little Frog that they are not the colors that he explained them to be. Little Frog points out that she needs to
Show More
look at them harder because they are indeed that color. For example, she says Yellow Bird is not yellow, that it is purple. The illustration shows that it is purple too. The purpose of the book is to teach opposites and complimentary colors. It would be a gook book for an art teacher.

Great book - I love the concept - but boy were my eyes tired by the end of it!

Beyond the fun that will insue with the questioning of the interesting colors of the animals is how this actually works with the eye and could lead to a great scientific discussion in the classroom.

I enjoyed reading this book because it was "opposite." Thus meaning the color of the animals names such as "red fox" wasn't actually a red fox. To me this book is about learning that things aren't always as they seem, I think children can relate to this book. I loved the pictures and the textures
Show More
in this book I think they fit the story beautifully.

"Hello, Red Fox" is a cute story by Eric Carle. Little frog invites numerous animal friends to his birthday party. As they arrive one by there seems to be some disagreement between little frog and his mother as to the animals colors. I think this stories central message is that things aren't always
Show More
as they seem. Also, I think the author and illustrator are conveying a secondary message of opposites as well as teaching children about primary and secondary colors. Overall I love the different illustrations provided and the simple, straightforward message from Carle. Fun story that most children will enjoy.

Hello, Red Fox is a good book for a parent to read with their children. Through colors, illusions, and the power of the human eye, mother fox (as well as parents and children) are able to see from a different perspective.

Little Frog is having a birthday party and wants to invite Red Fox, Purple Butterfly, Orange Cat, Green Snake, Yellow Bird, Blue Fish, and White Dot, but when Little Frog's guests begin to arrive, Mama Frog notices something strange about his friends.
This is a cute book with colorful pictures. It
Show More
is an interactive book where you stare at a black dot in the center of a shape, then you stare at a black dot on a white page, and your eye does something spectacular - it forms the shape in its complementary color. I tried and tried to see the pictures but could not. Then I gave it one more shot, and it worked!! It was cool!!

This story is very different from what Carle usually writes about. He uses animals as his main characters, but in an unusual way. Carle has a purpose for every book that he writes however, it is usually hard to uncover. In the beginning of the book, Carle explains how a man by the name Johann
Show More
Wolfgang van Goethe discovered his color theory. Also in the beginning, is a guide for how the book should be understood. There are dots in the middle of the pictures, readers are instructed to stare at the dots for 10 seconds, then look at the dot on the opposite page.
The story is about Little Frog, who is having a birthday party that day. His mother asks him who he wants to invite to the party. Little Frog names all of his friends. Some of the friends are Red Fox, Purple Butterfly, and Orange Cat. After everyone arrives at the party, Mama Frog is confused. The animals names do not match up to what they look like. Little Frog explains to Mama Frog how to see the animals in their more familiar colors.
This would be a fun book when teaching students about colors. There is one problem though, the dots are a tad bit small. I feel that some students would have a difficult time seeing how the colors change.

Great book for children to explore and read. This trick book can be enjoyed not only by children, but adults too.

This book goes through the story of a frog inviting his colorful friends to his birthday party. However, his mother does not agree with what color her son is calling them. She sees the "red fox" as a green fox and the "purple butterfly" and a yellow butterfly. The frog tells his mother that she is
Show More
simply not looking at them long enough. This book plays with the readers eyes in order to show complementary colors. In the end the mother sees all his party guests as the way he described them. This book is a modern fantasy.
