This book talks about making a whole family of snowpeople complete with pets. The pictures show many interesting objects to make them with, which are displayed on two pages in the back. The snowfamily melts, but looking at the back, we understand why because of a short description of how snow forms

A snow story, from before the snow falls, to building a snow family, to watching the family melt. The pictures are photographs of the author's artwork and text is simple and large. The artwork is very innovative, but there is no story nor catchy language to support the pictures. The best use of

this book would be as a read aloud before assigning kids to create their own snowman art, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get this book in a library. It would fit just fine in a preschool or public library collection.

This is a great book to read when you want to talk about weather or the seasons. It starts out talking about when it is going to snow and then all the snow people that are built. Then it talks about when the weather gets warmer and the snow people and animals start to melt.

Other than the consistent quality work of Lois Ehlert I loved the addtional information she included, it adds so much more value to the book.

This quick read will get children excited about snow days. The story tells of what the characters in the book made on their snow day from a simple snowball. The big pictures will get your creative juices flowing and introduce new ways to make snowmen.
Lovely day it is

When it snows outside, a snow family is constructed. However, when the sun comes out something unfortunate happens.

This is a story about the narrator, who waits for the perfect snow day to make snowmen. When the snow finally falls, they make an entire snow family with a mom, dad, boy, and pets. Eventually though, like all snowmen, the sun came out and melted the family away! The book also includes educational

It is special that the way the book is held, lengthwise, this can get the full impact of the snowmen. Maybe the text is kind of boring but really neat illustrations. This book can lead to a great variety of art projects for young children. It can also be used for science. At the end of the book is

The author's use of collage using real-life materials make this book extra special. It can be used as an introduction to an art activity using collage or during a class discussion about solids, liquids and melting.

This story shows how some children create snowmen families. The illustrations are wonderful and it is a great simple story for children to follow along with.

This is a great book. The artwork was amazing. The book is really short and there aren't many words but the pictures make up for that. I liked that the back of the book showed pictures of real snowmen made by people and close up pictures of the materials used to make the snowmen in the story along

Snowballs is a short and very sweet picture book that talks about a family who build a snowman for each memeber of their family. They use recycled objects that are not usually used for a snowman. At the end of the book a page shows all of the objects used and the names of the objects. This book

although very simple emphasizes family, creativity, and recycling without directly stating it. In the winter you could encourage your students to create their own snowman of themselves, of someone in their family, or make their whole family. Encourage them to go home and find recycled objects to use to build their snowman. The illustrations are pictures scanned into the story, making the story seem goofy yet realistic.
