In the book Arthur's Valentine, Arthur has a secret admirer who keeps leaving him love notes. He can not figure out who is admirer is at first but he hopes it is the new girl Sue Ellen. When he drops all of the love notes, the kids at school see them and they make fun of Arthur. Finally his mom

gives him one last note from his secret admirer that tells him to meet her at the movies. He goes to the movie and realizes his secret admirer was his friend Francine.

This is a really cute book that i read to my daughter. She felt so sad for Arthur when the other children made fun of him. But she thought that the end was humerous and it was an overall good book.

I would read this to my young class at valentines day to give them an idea of what valentines day is. I could have each of them choose someone in the class to pretend to be his or her secret admirer for the day.

This book is a Modern Fantasy because animals cannot really talk. However, the story does hold a bit of truth in that Valentine's Day is a real holiday and the circumstance of having a "secret admirer" is realistic. Arthur is the protagonist and we know this because the story is focused on him. He
Show More
is a round character in that we continue to learn from the author about his relationship with his secret admirer. We learn through Arthur's thoughts and actions most. This book is appropriate for primary and intermediate levels.

This story was about Arthur who was getting Valentine's cards before Valentine's Day from a secret admirer. Arthur kept trying to figure out who was sending them. All his friends were teasing him. When he found out he pulled a joke on his secret admirer. Instead of giving her a kiss he gave her

candy kisses. This would be a good story to read on Valentine's Day and letting everyone make Valentine boxes and cards.

I would read this book to students in grades Kindergarten through third grade. The Valentine's Day holiday is a great time to read this book since that is the holiday being celebrated in the story.

1. Since this book is about Valentine's day I would have the children make Valentine's for their classmates.
2. The students could be a secret admirer to someone in their family and make them a valentine!

On Valentine's Day Arthur wonders who is sending him secret valentines, and he is in for a lot of teasing. This book is a mystery. You have to find out who is Arthur's secret admirer. This would be a good book to read to a class around Valentine's Day.

One of the early Arthur books as well as the debut of Sue Ellen, whom I had a crush on when I was younger...

Anyway, it's Valentine's Day and someone is sending Arthur Valentines. Who is it? Things aren't easy for Arthur because during his tries to find out, he gets embarrassed a couple of times. As

for who's sending Arthur his valentines...read the book to find out.

The art is still primitive compared to the later entries, but it's getting better as Marc Brown really is developing these characters. Plus, Arthur's hometown has a folksy charm that you don't see in the more urban depiction of Elwood City from the acclaimed PBS series.

Not a great Arthur book, but still a good one.

Third Arthur book. Nice art, and this one even has a real story. Francine is secretly sending Arthur valentines, but Arthur hopes it might be the new girl, Sue Ellen, sending them. Francine has teased Arthur in the previous books, and he gets her back with a little trick, once he discovers that she

is his secret admirer. This is the best Arthur book so far.
