Filthiness comes alive in this energetic tale of the eponymous cur and his clean-freak mother. The grime oozes from every page, and it is, as the previous LT reviewer succinctly puts it, a "funny concept", but I can't see this becoming a favourite.

Dirt Boy by Erik Jon Slangerup, is a story about a boy named Fister Farnello that absolutely ‘digs’ dirt. His mom is a clean freak and tries to get him to take a bath so that he can be clean because he is covered in dirt. He loves being dirtied with dirt and does not want to be clean, so he

runs away into the forest. In the forest he meets a giant called Dirt Man. They are instantly best friends and have fun playing in the dirt. After a while Fister is so dirty that even the birds start to complain. He decides he cannot take it anymore and runs home to his mom. His mom barely recognizes him and thinks he is a monster at first. Then she grabs the hose and sprays him down so that she can start to see that it is Fister. It takes his mom so much soap and water to clean him up, but finally after hours he is clean.
