Beautiful pictures of babies from all over the world. Great one to recognize that babies from all over are beautiful. Also the story is very simple and perfect to actually read to a baby since they like looking at pictures of other babies and the text is so little that it doesn't distract them.

The Global Fund for Children, a non-profit organization, gathered photographs of babies from around the world into this chunky board book. A single sentence continuing throughout the book celebrates babies. Each child is identified by their country of origin, and is wearing traditional garb. Some

culturally sensitive parents may have qualms about the exoticization of non-US cultures, but wee children will delight in looking at tiny faces like their own.

As an adult I lvoed this, pictures of babies from many differnt cultures, wearing different traditional baby outfits. But the pictures were too busy for by boys eye, he didn't notice that they were pictures of babies at all.

My Response
This is a great book for small children maybe age 4-7 years old. The pictures are very colorful and show their traditional clothing and background. This is a very good book for anti bullying that shows no matter what your background may be all people share something in common. I would recommend this book for small children.
Classroom Extension
1)Ask students what all the babies had in common.
2)What traditional clothing did they like the most and was the clothing good for hot or cold weather.

Global Babies is a captivating book for babies and young children that shows that while babies from around the world may look different, they all share certain characteristics in common. The text is simple enough (one continuous sentence throughout the book with one to three words per page) so as

to keep babies from getting impatient. The vividly detailed photographs on each page of the book (which show babies from around the world dressed in traditional clothing) are sure to capture and hold the attention of babies, who enjoy looking at pictures of other babies who look like they do. Additionally, the details in the photographs provide adults/older children with a means by which to teach babies and younger children about body parts, pieces of clothing, and facial expressions. Looking at the book also facilitates bonding between adults/older children and babies/younger children as they explore the images together, searching for and identifying details. The sturdy pages of this board book are baby-friendly, allowing for the wear and tear that comes with heavy use, while enabling babies to gain practice in turning book pages on their own.

This is a good one for infant and toddlers. In a way it is informational. Each page has a photo of a baby from a different country-dressed in normal wear for that country. The names of the countries are on each page, plus a few other words.
