Description

Little Nelson grew up learning about the racial divisions in South Africa and the unfair treatment of his people. As an adult, he protested against apartheid, a system that separated people based on the color of their skin... until he was imprisoned. But despite his long walk to freedom, Nelson never gave up the fight for justice and equality, and became an icon around the world. This inspiring story of the life of South Africa's first Black president features a facts and photos section at the back.

"a winner is just a dreamer who never gives up"
That is the takeaway from the life story of this very remarkable man who was imprisoned so that all others in his country, South Africa, would be free instead of a select group of legal aliens. This book is perfect for reading with children and also

This book is par for the course for the series. It starts with Nelson Mandela’s Young life and goes all the way up until his most current issues. It gives a basic understanding of who the man was while glossing over and making everything seem happy and nice. It skips the harsh and the bad stuff

which I they would not do. I think even kids can understand that not all famous people had it easy.
