While the film with to a contemporary audience is rather hampered by an overreliance on gags and musical numbers while unfortunately minimizing the (already very simple) plot and character arcs, the movie remains a stunning achievement. Not to mention it still looks beautiful, and is (impressively)

still frequently both funny and gripping.

A beautiful princess flees from a jealous queen.

I was literally grinning through the entire film. I can't believe I've managed to never see this movie until now. I guess I had just figured it was like all the Disney "classics" from the 50's and later that I'm familiar with. Nope, not at all. This

is no less than one of the greatest films of all time.

In light of today's animated films, this is dated and slow-moving. Even the Seven Dwarves can't make me want to watch it again. And certainly the idea of Prince Charming is outdated.

My daughters (age 7 and 8) and I decided to watch all of the Disney movies in order. Snow White is first, coming out in 1937! Whew. We all got very bored very quickly. Which isn't fair, because there are some very good parts. The beginning of the movie is slow, but once the Dwarfs are introduced

the pacing is much better. Also I thought the scenes with the Evil Queen's black magic, and her interactions with Snow White are the best parts. And they are just powerful enough that my older daughter didn't was getting creeped out.
