Description

A rat named Remy dreams of becoming a great chef despite his family's wishes and the obvious problem of being a rat in a decidedly rodent-phobic profession. When fate places Remy in Paris, he finds himself ideally situated beneath a restaurant made famous by his culinary hero. Despite the apparent dangers of being an unwanted visitor in the kitchen of one of Paris' most exclusive restaurants, Remy forms an unlikely partnership with Linguini, the garbage boy, who inadvertently discovers Remy's amazing talents. They strike a deal, ultimately setting into motion a chain of extraordinary events that turns the culinary world of Paris upside down.

The concept was interesting and the story and animation basically well-done, but I had some problems with the principles and development. The boy never actually learned to cook, and the rat's back-story should have included some reference to the dish ratatouille before he decided that was the one

to risk his 'career' on.

A rat poses as a chef by controlling a human like a puppet.

I'm a fan of Pixar in general, but this one in particular just doesn't do anything for me. I mean, it's not as bad as Cars by a long shot. But there's something about the story that rubs me the wrong way; the best I can do to pin it down is
Show More
to say it felt sit-com-ish. But it's funny and fast paced and kind of cute, and the animation is all kinds of good, so whatever.
