Over the many years I have been weaving I have seen crafty books on fixed loom crafts come and go. They are all the same in their essence and are of little interest to me. Ms Campbell covers the same ground.

If you have a child with an interest in yarn crafts, then a book like this could help

improve visualization and planning. But I would buy a used one from somewhere or get on from a library. I would not buy one of these expensive new editions (any author, any publisher) for any reason.

If the interest is a serious one, then buy a real weaving textbook (Mary Black, for instance) and adapt the techniques to a fixed frame loom.

I received a review copy of "Welcome to Weaving: The Modern Guide" by Lindsey Campbell (Schiffer) through NetGalley.com.

If you are really interested in weaving - to make cloth of some sort, you will not want this book. If you are just interested in making crafty hangings for your wall, then you might be happy with it.

I saw this as a new book at my library and borrowed it without looking inside. I certainly did not

spend my money on it.
