It is an interesting story of the great Afghanistan Mystical poet Rumi. He wrote 50,000 rhymed couplets about the love that resides in everyone's soul. He founded the order of the Whirling Dervishes. Beautifully illustrated and colorful.

Rumi is illustrated in a traditional Ottoman style. The biography is interspersed with verses of the poet's works.

The first thing I noticed about this book was that it was exceptionally beautiful. The entire layout of the book makes it a magical read which works nicely with the mysticism of the Whirling Dervishes.

disapoinment. It has enough excitement with a simple and catchy enough text, coupled with the stylized illustrations, to capture the interest of young readers. I could read this to a whole-class, small-group, or allow students to read it individually. It could be used as part of a unit on poetry, Islamic history and thought, or comparative religions.
