This book was about a boy telling about his village and the people of it. He tells many different stories about many different people all involving animals. Some stories were about alligators, monkeys but most of the time it was about the ox that his family kept. He has great adventures with his
I gave this book a four star rating. I gave it this rating becuase it was a very good book but in some parts it wasn't very clear. It would not be clear on either what was happening or what things were like. It wouldn't be clear on how their house was or something and it wouldn't really make sense at some points. For the most part though it made sense. And when it did have detail it was very clear and understandable which i also liked about this book. I also liked that ox was a good ox and he didn't go away but that he knew what he was suposed to do. So i gave this book a four star rating because it wcould have been better in some areas but for the most part the book was really good.

ox. His ox is named Tank and he is also very strong so he helps the boy with many adventures. One of the adventures that he helped him with was fishing. He would tie a rope to Tank and tie the rope to a net so Tank would pull out as many fish as possible. He also had many other adventures with Tank. In the end though, Tank dies and the whole village is very sad because he was such a good ox.I gave this book a four star rating. Talk about memorable, Huynh Quang Nhuong's stories of his childhood growing up in a rural hamlet of the Vietnam hill country. Animals are a big part of his childhood...huge snakes, crocodiles, tigers, water buffalo, wild pigs, dogs. It is fascinating, exciting, and horrifying. Wonderful writing!
