I had previously read Hidden and Malicious, which are Mitchum books 1 and 2 when they were released as BookShots. The River Murders puts those 2 books, along with a new installment, Malevolent, into one book.
I really didn’t care for Malevolent at all. It starts when Mitchum’s mother is hit by

a SUV. Then, Alicia, Mitchum’s love interest, has her apartment explode. Mitchum discovers that the person behind this is the man he thought was in prison for what happened in an earlier Mitchum story. This book takes Mitchum to Afghanistan to track down the man. The latest installment didn’t do anything for me, I just couldn’t wait for it to end.

Hidden-3 stars
Another fast paced BookShots! Mitchum's 14 year-old cousin, Bailey Mae, has disappeared. Mitchum's search for her leads to a hidden camp where several people are held prisoner. Mitchum's unlikely helper in this search is his drug dealing brother. This is the first in the series with Mitchum as the main character, also known as the unofficial town private detective.

Malicious-3 stars
A very quick read, but a little too neatly wrapped up. Mitchum has to find out who killed a drug dealer, and determine if his brother did it.
