While most romances are stories of people meeting and falling in love, this book takes a different, refreshing direction. I kept hoping that Larson would reveal himself to Kathryn and I held my breath every time I thought he finally would. I went through all the emotions right along with the

characters.

Secondary characters are unforgettable and I hope we find out more about them in future books.

Rekindled ranks right up there with Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers, which is my favorite book.

I can't wait to read her next novel in this great series by a talented new author.

Kathryn faces a heartrending situation when her husband leaves their ranch for a business trip and doesn't return. Alone in the homestead, Kathryn has only her memories of her distant husband and his dreams. But he also left them deeply in debt, and Kathryn also discovers that she is carrying his
Show More
child. She is forced to move to town and endure some unpleasant living circumstances and jobs. She is also harrassed by the banker handling her husbands loan. Meanwhile, her husband Larson is not dead as everyone thinks but has survived--albiet with horrific burns--and has been nursed back to help by a sympathetic couple who also reaquiant him with his faith. Larson finally returns home, only to discover his wife is in mourning for him, and (he suspects) pregnant with another man's child. Larson hides his identity from her, but can't stay away from her, and eventually comes to know her anew.

Flips back and forth from Kathryn to Larson's point of view. Larson hiding his identity seems a bit of a contrivance, it creates drama and an interesting story, but would someone really do that? Alexander captures the feel of a western story/setting pretty well, it seems pretty typical. She does weave some moral/spiritual lessons into the story, the prejudice Kathryn has toward the prostitutes she encounters and then the way she learns to accept them is a highlight of the book.

I was 3/4 of the way through this one before I liked it. But the end is great, and I would rather read a book that was so-so than one that I liked and had a terrible ending (i.e. Shadow of the Giant). I liked Revealed even better.

Rekindled is one of those rare stories that just stays with you long after you close the book. You continue to think about the characters because you have come to know them so well. Kathryn and Larson's story was a difficult one and yet you see God's hand in all of it. It was a story about love,

trust, faith and truly letting God be in control.

Don't miss this story. It is a keeper for me and I'm sure you will feel the same. I am looking forward to 'Revealed'.

I read this all in one day in two sittings. Well to be honest, it's now 5:22am... so just over one day. :) If you liked [author: Francine Rivers]' [book: Redeeming Love] or [author: Tracie Peterson]'s [book: Yukon Quest] then you are sure to love this little novel. Heartbreaking struggle from both

This was my first time reading a book by Tamera Alexander, I had heard wonderful things about her books, and was very excited to read this one. I was not disappointed in any way. From the very beginning I was drawn in to this story, and did not want to put it down. There is something about the way

Tamera Alexander writes that is refreshing and different, and definitely makes me want to read more of her books. I loved how the story kept me guessing until the end, not knowing what would happen with certain characters or events. This first book by Tamera Alexander is definitely a success, and I look forward to reading the next few in the series!

Storyline:
Kathryn Jennings married the love of her life, Larson Jennings, but somehow along the way disappointments came and married life was not what she expected with him. When one day he goes into town and does not come back, Kathryn's life is changed forever. She struggles to keep her husband's dream of the ranch alive, and also support herself. Although her husband has not come back she knows in her heart he is still alive. When a mysterious stranger with scars so bad he does not show his face, comes into town, Kathryn wonders at her attraction to him. Is this her long-lost husband or just someone who reminds her of him? Through many events both Kathryn and her husband find faith in God, and through God's grace are rekindled in their love for each other.

If you loved Francine River's Redeeming Love, then this is one book you should definitely check out!

A wonderful book of love on top of love! There was a lot of sadness but so much love and sweetness. The sadness and setbacks really made the book seem more realistic then most books. I really recommend.
