Description
When Will Harper dies, Ray Townsend struggles to come to grips with the guilt he now feels. Acting on a promise to Will, Ray tries to help out Jean, Will's widow, and her family, but not everyone in the family wants the man responsible for their father's death to be around. Everyone, including Ray, knows that Ray is everything Will Harper was not, but he makes an effort to change. Jean helps Ray understand that he can find the peace and forgiveness he seeks only in Jesus' hands.

This is a really good Alaskan adventure series. It is set in the 1930's and gives you a real feel for the lifestyle of the folks that were making a go of it in the Matanuska Valley; a historical fiction book that takes place right before World War II begins. I highly recommend you read these
In this story Will Hasper is going to die tragically, and it will have a great impact upon the man who hated him, Ray Townsend. Ray will struggle with how he can help the Hasper family survive now on their farm. Will's widow, Jean and the family will eventually learn to accept his help, but Luke, the oldest son, wants nothing to do with the man he feels is responsible for his father's death.
What a great story on how God can change a man for good, but also a sad story on how if we let bitterness and hatred build up in us, it can really do bad things to us and make us change, and not in a good way. Ray makes changes for good, but Luke just can't let his bitterness go. You will experience the heartache of what this does to the family, but you will also experience joy as you see how God does a wonderful thing for others in this family. I can't wait to see how this ends, in book 3, "Home at Last"! Alaska is a place I have always wanted to visit and after reading this series, it makes me even more anxious to go - just NOT in the winter.
