While enjoying the warm Florida sun, Stone Barrington sits on his yacht and observes an airplane falling from the sky. He dives into the lagoon and pulls the injured pilot from the plane; a Coast Guard helicopter whisks the injured man away to the hospital.

When Stone and Key West Detective Max

Crowley dive down to the plane the next morning, the cargo has disappeared. And it isn’t long before the airplane itself does a vanishing act. With the evidence continually disappearing, can Stone and Max find the answers? And what is the connection between Key West and New York City?

This adventure marks the fiftieth outing for Stone Barrington. Dino and Viv Bacchetti are front and center; Joan Robertson makes a few brief appearances. Luxury, fine food, private jets, money, and shopping . . . all escapades of the uber-rich . . . have a part here as the story plays out between Key West and New York City.

This being a Stone Barrington tale, there’s also a great deal of sex. Unfortunately, instead of the lightheartedness of previous stories, here it’s just tawdry. When Detective Max works, she’s admirable; when she’s with Stone, she’s mostly embarrassing. And the annoyingly gratuitous tossing around of an offensive expletive doesn’t help matters.

The sub-plot [taking second place to the sex-capades] is clever and intriguing; there are unexpected twists that keep the reader guessing. By the end of this quick-read tale, all is set right, but readers aren’t likely to find much fun in the reading of this disappointing tale.

lWhen this series first began many moons ago...I really liked it. Stone Barrington and Dino were partners in the NYPD...they investigated and solved crimes. When Stone went into private practice as an attorney it was still a good series. He had clients to defend and he still kept in touch with Dino
Show More
and other interesting characters were added to the series. Then it seemed overnight the entire focus changed. Everyone was richer than God...Stone bought houses in seemingly every state and country in the world...and he became God's great gift to every woman he encountered. This book was literally 317 pages of sex with more descriptions than anyone ever needed. Come on...the man is 50 something years old. Surely he can't have that much stamina!

Like many Stone Barrington fans, I enjoyed the series when it was first introduced. I hadn't read one in years so thought I would give it another go to see where it had progressed. The problem is that the series has not progressed ... it's tanked! There is absolutely no redeeming argument to read
Show More
this book - the characters are both hollow and shallow and the plot contrived to the point of absurdity. I will waste no more time with Stone Barrington or Stuart Woods. Way too much great reading out there!

What is up with all the sex and drinking? I'm not close to being a prude and don't mind characters having an occasional romp when it's germaine to the plot but this book was so over the top it could have been written by a 14 year old boy with too many fantasies. Certainly not up to Woods' typical

standard. I didn't waste the time to finish it and would not recommend.

The book follows a typical Stone Barrington track: multiple locations, a new love interest (who survives the book), a mystery, many expensive toys. The sub-plot is clever and intriguing. A cameo appearance, so we won't forget, by Holly Barker seems unnecessary. Fun read, but don't expect much
Show More
different then the usual Stone Barrington.

While this was a super far read, it was absolutely ridiculous and over the top with Stone and his sexual escapades. Seriously, it is completely annoying. Stick to the crime and the investigations, the corruption and the mystery. Lighten up on the morning, noon, and night sex, the books would
Show More
benefit from a bit of editing out the endless sex scenes.
