Description

"Stone Barrington and his friends are vacationing in Maine when their leisure is suddenly disrupted by extreme weather. To make matters worse, the inclement conditions allow for a menacing adversary to sneak in unnoticed and deliver a chilling message. Soon it becomes clear that the target of the incident is one of Stone's closest companions, and that these enemies have a grander scheme in mind. From the bustling streets of New York City to the sun-drenched shores of Key West, Stone intends to nab the criminals that appear behind him at every step. But his search only leads him further down a trail of peril and corruption, and he'll soon find that at the end of the road is a more dangerous foe than he could have imagined.."--

Great characters and an excellent story opportunity totally wasted. The plot: that five Alt Rt crazies could manage three+ attempts, killing 6 secret service agents, to assassinate Holly Barker, the President-Elect in a very short time period and remain unknown. Oh, they also have an FBI informant

among their ranks. Inane, rediculous, and ludicrous as adjectives to describe this plot are barely sufficient. Having read most of your previous books, Mr Woods, I am embarrassed for you.

I'm willing to suspend disbelief and enjoy the adventures, however unlikely, for some light reading which I enjoyed. Home grown right wing whackos attempt to assassinate the POTUS-elect--multiple times without success, As a political thriller, not so transfiguring because it's just so unbelievable.

The usual characters inhabit the pages/sounds and Stone ends up saving the world--again. Altogether fun, if really seemingly impossible--yet, what is impossible in Washington DC?

group, and they, too are in danger.
Review: At least this book has a plot; it also has an interesting sub story about two people who have infiltered a group.

Holly Barker has just been elected the next president of the US. After a long campaign, she wants a getaway. While she and Stone escape to Maine, someone launches an attack. Thus begins a chase across America trying to keep Holly safe. A smear campaign to ruin her chance of re-election, a counter

campaign against these forces, all lead to an exciting tale.
Although I think the book ended rather abruptly, it was better than several of the recent Stone Barrington novels.
Super quick read.
