Jus' li'l kid stuff, chock full of only slightly forced wonder and Watterson's apposite eye. The sentimental love people have for this (and, incidentally, the Muppets) always seems sanctimonious, like they're just waiting for the chance to call you a joyless bastard if you demur. But that's not

Watterson's fault, and if I can take or leave the many comics where the joke is "Calvin doesn't like vegetables" or "Calvin's teacher is an alien," sometimes too it just cuts you to the quick with pathos or delight or wry regular-people solidarity of a sort that's a mere flickering candle today compared to how it was back then, before they gutted the middle class. It's a hard act to pull off, and Watterson's charming vignettes do a really good job.

In my opinion, this is one of the best C&H collections out there. It actually shows how Calvin came to aquire Hobbes, which I've always wanted to know, and how their friendship developed. I like the simpler, cruder drawings because it shows how much Bill Watterson's skills have developed from that

time.

Bill Watterson is a genius. Although I've read these collections dozens of times apiece over the years, I've always discovered a renewed appreciation for this strip each time I pick them up.

IT'S THE BEST BOOK EVER!!!!!!!: I love this book! When my friend got a Calvin and Hobbes book, I did'nt really like it because it was not in color. But once I got this book I loved it! I colored in the ilistrations so now I don't have ANY problems with this book! I want to collect all of the Calvin

and Hobbes books, but right now I only have 4. I would reccomend this book to anyone who likes funny books. They are so good my dad reads them! Other good Calvin and Hobbes books are Revenge of the Baby-Sat,Scientific Progress Goes Boink, and Attack of the Deranged Muntant Killer Monster Snow Goons. Well, I guess that's it. BUY THIS BOOK!!!!!!!

Whenever I'm having a rough day, Calvin and Hobbes can always make it better. Calvin is a boy whose imagination takes him (and his best friend, a stuffed tiger named Hobbes) to incredible places. And gets him into quite a bit of trouble, too.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for the child in each of us!

This is the best comic book ever, I really recommend it!
Calvin is a 6 year old boy who thinks his stuffed tiger is real. Calvin has a wild imagination and no one will get him to behave! This book is full of hysterical adventures!

I just put this back on my shelf as we unpacked our books. I quickly pulled it off again to have a read. After 20 years it still makes me laugh out loud.

THIS IS THE CUTEST BOOK EVER.

I remember reading this book back when I was younger, and to this day, I stand by the belief that this book is utterly and undeniably ADORABLE. Not only it is cute, it's also hilarious, always managing to put a smile on my face.

I am not that into comic books, but this

book exposed me to the world of comics, a genre I would not have ventured into if not for Calvin and Hobbes. I recommend this book to readers of all ages, as this book is in no way exclusive to one age group and will appeal to everyone.

Its Calvin and Hobbes! A boy and his tiger (stuffed). This is the best comic strip out there - and even 17 years old (from the publishing date of this volume) and it is still relevant - still makes me laugh.

Always a mood-lifter and so quintessentially a childhood-remembered.
