In my opinion this is a great book! It tells the life of an Oak tree over a 200 year life span. One thing I liked about this book was the language. The language throughout this book was very descriptive and detail oriented. "Some years, little rain fell. Hills and fields were dry where trees had

stood and shaded the ground from the sun's rays. The oak tree's roots reached far underground for water as its leaves wilted." (Year 1875)
I also really enjoyed how the story was sort of in a third person point of view. It was if the author was telling a story about the life of this one oak tree. It made the book interesting and engaging to read considering it was more informational about oak trees. The big idea in this story is about oak trees, how they hold a lot of history, have seen many things and changes.

Two centuries of history surrounding an oak tree although the earliest historical events depicted seem dubious at best.

Nice juxtaposition between seasons and long stretches of time passing. Lovely rhythm to the book as well.
