This is the third book in the Porter family series. It can be read as a stand alone, but I am grateful that I had the opportunity to read the first two books before this one.

Jake and Lyndie are wonderful characters who seemed like they could be real people to me. They both have challenges that

effect their attitude and their drive to succeed in life.

Lyndie has a disabled sister. The compassion and love that she shows are admirable. Lyndie is loyal, smart, and talented. The love that she exibits toward her sister shows in the way she treats the horses she works with.

Jake was a marine. The wounds he carries from his time in Iraq are not all visible to the eye. He has a scar on his face, but his real battle is in the PTSD that is a part of his everyday life. I really liked that the book looked into a topic that is the battle that extends long after a soldier leaves the military. The book looks at how everyday situations can impact a person struggling with PTSD.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It is clean and has a Christian theme.

Jake Porter was wounded during his stint in the Marines. But his mental scars are much worse than the external ones. PTSD, survivors guilt, and a loss of his faith make for a very tormented man. He is intimidating, quiet, and brooding. But his gift for horses speak to the man he still is

inside.
Years ago Lyndie and Jake were best friends. Lyndie is now back in town and wants a job working for Jake. Can she get past the scars and torment to reach the man she use to know?

I fell in love with this story. The complexity and depth made this more than just a sweet romance. The author did a wonderful job of portraying the anguish in Jake's soul and the love in Lyndie's heart. The families represented were authentic and really showed their love and support to the two main characters. There was definitely romance and chemistry between the couple. This was a romance, after all. But the strong message of faith was woven so expertly throughout the story that I finished the book feeling awed by the amazing love of God. Once again this author has written an beautiful story. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

I received this book free of charge from Litfuse Publicity in exchange for my honest review.

This is a wonderful story of learning to overcome and to live again. Jack and Lyndie reconnect as adults and she works to help him overcome some issues that he has. I liked seeing how they learned to work together to overcome the obstacles and how it worked out. I liked seeing how Lyndie was able

to keep persevering even when things got tough.

Nightmares, anxiety, involuntary reactions to simple noises. These are all part of Jake Porter's life after returning home from the Marines. His Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) keeps him isolated from others, including his family. His life was different many years before, when he felt whole

and loved his best friend, Lyndie James. When Lyndie suddenly moves back to Holley, Texas, Jake is unprepared for the bond that still exists from their childhood friendship. Against his own desires, he hires Lyndie to exercise his Thoroughbred horses and asks her to work with Silver Leaf, a beautiful and potentially amazing horse that won't race. As Lyndie and Jake work together, she brings light into his otherwise dark life. Jake resists the momentum of their relationship as he is plagued by the past. Will he ever be whole enough to love Lyndie? Read more in A Love Like Ours by Becky Wade.

A Love Like Ours is Becky Wade's third book featuring the Porter brothers of Holley, Texas and it is my favorite. It works fine as a stand-alone story, but Undeniably Yours and Meant to Be Mine are good as well, so I recommend reading them before A Love Like Ours.

Wade's writing style is good as usual. At no point did the plot drag or rush. Jake and Lyndie are well-developed characters with flaws and strengths that make them authentic, but still remarkable. However, the story is what really enchanted me with this book. I felt like cheering as Lyndie took Silver Leaf out to attempt his first run. Lastly, I appreciated the compassion with which the author treated Jake's PTSD. As someone who's been there, I felt Wade did an excellent job in dealing with the issue without making it too tidy, too easily fixed.

I recommend A Love Like Ours by Becky Wade to fans of clean, Christian romances. It's a keeper for me as I have no doubt I'll read this series again in the future.

A Love Like Ours is another heartwarming addition to Becky Wade's delightfully charming Porter Family series. In this latest release, taciturn brother Jake is not at all happy when his childhood friend Lyndie James begins working at Whispering Creek ranch.

The glimpses of Jake in previous novels

have been quite intriguing and it is incredibly gratifying to finally learn more information about this battle scarred man. He is haunted by the IED attack that killed the men he served with and he is wracked by survivor's guilt. He is also suffering from PTSD and he relives the attack during horrific nightmares. Jake is extremely closed off from family and friends but even worse, he has lost his faith and turned his back on God.

Lyndie is bubbly, cheerful and unfailingly optimistic. Her life has not been all sunshine and rainbows but her unwavering faith has sustained her through some very trying times. She is very devoted to her family and although she lives on her own, she spends a lot of time helping her parents care for her disabled younger sister, Mollie. Lyndie is a bit stubborn but in Jake's case, this works to her advantage because she refuses to let his standoffishness deter her from going after what she wants.

The relationship between Jake and Lyndie is very uneasy and fraught with tension. Jake is extremely reluctant to hire Lyndie, not because she is not qualified, but because of his irrational fear that she will be injured. Once she settles into her new job, Jake's fears eventually lessen to some degree. Lyndie cleverly devises a plan for them to spend more time together in hopes that they will regain their easy friendship. Her patience pays off when Jake pursues a romantic relationship with her but Lyndie's happiness is tempered by her reservations over Jake's lack of faith.

A Love Like Ours is a wonderful novel of faith, forgiveness and grace. The characters are endearing and while they are flawed, they are very sympathetic. The storyline is realistic and the PTSD aspect of the plot is well researched and handled with sensitivity. Family plays a big role in the unfolding story and their support for one another is very uplifting. The romance between Lyndie and Jake is slow growing and very sweet. There is a strong spiritual element that adds another layer of complexity to the both the characters and the overall storyline. It is a lovely faith based romance that old and new fans of Becky Wade's Porter Family series are going to love.
