I really enjoyed Olivia and Max’s story. Jasmine Guillory has a lovely and fun way of showing couples getting together and falling in love. It’s great to see love not being the end of a romance but instead the couple working together to make their relationship work and last.

I have recently read several romance books with perfect, handsome, accomplished men who will give anything to be with their women. (I keep thinking of Caroline Bingley and Mr. Darcy discussing accomplished women -- this is much the same.) This serves to dehumanize and objectify men in much the same

way women have been dehumanized and objectified for eons. I find no appeal in the prospect of a Prince Charming with no warts. (Figurative warts -- I can most definitely do without the viral type.) In addition to all else, how miserable would it be to be the only flawed person in the relationship. Otherwise this was a nice enough romance and I appreciated the focus on defining white privilege and the black tax. I do think I am done with this series though. The first two books were fun, but the others have been for me decidedly average or below.

I've read all of Guillory's books, and this is probably my second favorite after The Wedding Date. This one was fun, interesting with its political angle, and pretty believable in its conflict.

Sweet. Not great literature but easy fun beach read

An entertaining plane read, but I didn't enjoy it as much as Royal Holiday. Olivia and Max definitely have chemistry, but his reckless and impetuous attitude grated after a while. I can't imagine a politician having too much success if they make every decision with no forethought. I loved the focus
Show More
on Olivia building a life in LA and finding new friends and a place to volunteer. A fun read, but not one I'll return to.

I really enjoy escaping in the world of a Jasmine Guillory romance novel. In this one, Olivia Monroe meets Max Powell at a hotel bar and they hit it off immediately. What she doesn’t know right away is that Max is the junior US Senator for California. Olivia is hesitant about dating anyone

seriously, much less someone with a high profile position.
The story slowly builds their romance, has the inevitable problem which causes real issues in their relationship, and a satisfying conclusion.
If you enjoy romance, this is a good one. I also liked how Guillory weaved in the issue of criminal reform and issues that different races face. Well done!

You move across the country and meet a man in the hotel bar...

Olivia is back in California and finally starting her own law firm, her dream! Will meeting a handsome man by chance going to distract her from her goals? What if he's a popular, famous senator?

Watching their relationship evolve was

cute and fun. Their friendship makes their relationship one that will last. I loved how Olivia thinks through common challenges of racism and working in a male dominated field. I love that she partakes in community work, doing more than just things for herself.

I got a bit bored toward the end from hearing her having the same internal debate in the relationship, but glad she listens to her heart.

I listened to this on audio... The narrator's voice was crisp, fluid, and enjoyable to listen to. She read with enthusiasm and gave distinguishable voices to the characters. She was a pleasure! I recommend this to anyone who loves romance!

This is the first book by Jasmine Guillory I’ve read and I really enjoyed it. Probably the background of US politics helped. But it’s a fun read.

Another enjoyable installment. I think my favorite part is that the conflict that threatens the relationship is actually pretty real and not manufactured. It's a real struggle that a couple like Olivia and Max would face. And I really appreciated how they were able to work through it.

Another lovely rom-com from Jasmine Guillory. Her characters are complicated, her world is diverse, and the sex is hot. That said, I hope that she will feature a queer couple as the main characters in a future novel.

Perhaps a questionable choice for a long election week, but this was cute. Lots of food, as per other Guillory outings. The fantasy of a hot boyfriend who's also a senator that listens? Yes please.
