A chapbook with two Liaden stories: an incident in the young adulthood of Val Con and the origin of Pat Rin's Sinner's Rug. If you like Liad you'll want these, if you don't know the series they'll mean nothing.

One excellent story, one OK. Again filling in gaps - here we get one of Val Con's adventures (Shadow Partner) and an explanation of a scene in a previous story (A Day at the Races); then we get the story of just where Pat Rin got his stock for the shop on Surebleak, including the Sinners Carpet
