User reviews
The novel picks up several months after the ending events in Truly, Madly, and Ms. Webber does a fantastic job of referencing key events from the first novel that allows first-time readers the chance to understand the key points and be able to continue with the current story. For return readers, Lucy has grown in her comfort level with her powers and her ability to use them to help others. She has learned from her mistakes and capitalizes on those learnings, which is always refreshing in a heroine.
The attraction of the novel is all due to Lucy. She is filled with self-doubt, yet she is so cheerful and fun that she draws the reader in and compels the reader to stand up and cheer when she finally takes a stand on something important. Her relationship with Sean is smoldering and yet there is a tenderness about it that is utterly endearing. One cannot help but fall in love with Lucy Valentine.
Lucy remains charming, funny and uniquely lovable. The entire novel is goofy and fun. The witty banter had me laughing throughout the novel. If you have not had the opportunity to get to know Lucy, I highly recommend you do so. Deeply, Desperately is a perfect light-hearted read and a great novel with which to end the summer vacation.
Webber keeps the book moving with multiple story lines. For a fairly short book, there really is a lot going on. Lucy is kept off-balance as she tries to discover the truth in what is happening around her while also sorting through her feelings for Sean. There is also a lot of humor in the book and the conversations between the characters range from quick banter to painful and serious. Although Webber's story lines twist and turn in ways that I don't always see coming, I still think it is the personalities of the characters and their interactions that make these books so fun for me.
I really like this series. Lucy and
As in Truly, Madly (book one of the Lucy Valentine series), Heather Webber constructs a fabulous story. The characters are wonderfully interesting and the plot is well layered with multiple story lines. There is plenty going on but every aspect is balanced, woven together such that nothing gets confusing or lost in the mix. I love the supporting cast and Lucy's friends and family are realistic characters that I could see myself being friends with or related to. And Lucy Valentine is all heart: smart, spunky, clever, and wise with just a touch of vulnerability. Caring and kind to everyone around her, but still capable of anger, envy and suspicions, ensuring that the reader find hers fully lovable and delightfully real.
With psychic mystery, sweet romance, and witty humor, Deeply, Desperately is a terrific sequel that does not disappoint after the delight of book one. Equally as good as the first in the series, the novel is a fun entry into Lucy Valentine's adventures and I can't wait to see what Webber concocts for book three!
What she also has are anonymous letters coming in threatening her, she has her very own journalist hounding her
Lucy hesitates when it comes to Sean. She thinks the curse is going to kick their relationship to the curb and the ex-in-need isn't helping. Sean feels obligated to help her out, but feels bad about leaving Lucy behind.
Lucy also is in cahoots with one of her two best friends, Marisol. The two of them are trying to get the goods on their other bestest friend, Em's, intended. Neither Lucy or Marisol like the jerk and need for Em to see it, too. It's like watching Lucy and Ethel get together on a caper.
The heartwarming bits are when Lucy helps find missing persons. I love watching how she goes about the process and the end results.
Five magical sparkly diamonds.....
There's a lot of light fun when she and a best friend go spy on their best friend's fiance. It could've been amped up a bit more. I'm not giving up on the series yet, though, because Lucy is a great character surrounded by a great supporting cast.
So, I don't know if it was a good or a bad book, it just wasn't one I was in the least enjoying or interested in.
The mystery
This series is great. It is nice, fun, and just happy. Great read for the bathtub while relaxing, or anywhere really, as long as you read it
