Currently my favourite picture book, and splendid to read aloud at story time. The words play with rhythm and language sounds in the most satisfying way, the illustrations are crazy enough to support the words. You can hear music when you read this.

And never leave your cat alone!

A beautifully illustrated book that is super cool to read aloud. It's just *made* for intoning. Give it a try!

This book is great for kids Kindergarten to Second grade. Teaches children the music type, be bop. Kids could make their own be bop as part of a lesson.

Lively, pulsing beat. This book reads like music.

Good basic book about Charlie Parker, enlivened with nonsense "scat" renditions.

Charlie Parker's bee-bop comes to life in this quaint music themed book! Rather than a factual book describing Charlie Parker, Raschka brings his bee-bop to life with this fun song book. The song is actually so catchy, it has actually been stuck in my head for the last few hours!

Summary: Charlie Parker played be bop begins with Charlie playing a saxaphone and we see a cat and are told "Never leave your cat alone." He plays be bop on his saxaphone making silly sounds and rhyming words. At the end the music sounds more like hip hop and we are reminded again "Never leave your

cat alone."

Personal Reation: Charlie Parker played be bop is a fun rhyming book to read to children. It is fun to say some of the sounds and rhymes in this book, but its really fun to getthe children involved.

“Charlie Baker Played Be Bop” is a perfect book for beginners. The book is written in such a way that a student could easily match the picture with the words. Also the book is written with a sort of rhythm to it and gives students an idea of what the flow of “be bop” sounds like. This would

be a great book for getting students to interact with story time. When the teacher get’s to one of the sound words the students could repeat after the teacher.

Very few but rhythmic words introduce the musician and his style of music.
