This book tells the story of the colonists travel to the New World on the Mayflower. There were many interesting details that would appeal to students such as the passenger who brought 126 pairs of shoes and the fact that the travelers had to use buckets when they went to the bathroom. However, the

illustrations are muted and do not catch the reader's attention. Also the relationship between the Native Americans and the colonists is glossed over. It is interesting to read this book, which was published in 1996, and compare it to books more recently published to see the difference in the way the relationship between the Native Americans and the colonists is depicted. This book could easily be used in an elementary classroom.
