Good for "the talk" and for slowly helping to answer the question "where do babies come from?"

A Great board book edition of this 2000 modern classic that answers the innocent "Where do I come from" question that passes through most toddler's lips with a simple "God gave us you." It touches on the miracle of pregnancy without getting detailed. It shows the love and anticipation parents feel

for their unborn child. This book is also perfect for children who are about to have a new sibling (it doesn't touch on this, but it is a great way to say "I love you" to them). A+! I received this book as a part of the Library Thing Early Reviewers program, and I am very happy that I did!

Our family really enjoys the whimsical God Gave Us series by Lisa Tawn Bergen. Spiritual concepts are simply explained with comparisons to every day situations. God Gave Us You is the first book in the series, and this board book edition for toddlers is the first time we’ve read it!

Addressing
Show More
simpler and more concrete subjects than the other God Gave Us books that we have read that deal with topics like heaven, diversity, and love – God Gave Us You answers the always popular question, “Where did I come from?”

This very child-friendly explains how Little Cub’s mother and father were lonely, how they rejoiced when they learned that Little Cub was growing inside of Mama Bear, how her belly grew, how she went to the hospital, and how Mama finally met Little Cub in person.

The descriptions are all so sweet and completely age-appropriate for toddlers – there isn’t anything really explicit to be found here. This warm, lovely story is a perfect first introduction to pregnancy and would be a great choice for a child who is expecting a new sibling or wondering how they came to be. As always Laura J. Bryant’a art work is soft, colorful, and charming. You can’t go wrong with this one!

“Where did I come from?” An innocent question with a complex answer. In God Gave Us You, Little Cub asks this question of her Mama who replies that “God Gave Us You.” Mama goes on to explain that Little Cub was in her tummy, how they prepared for Little Cub's arrival, and how happy they

were when Little Cub finally arrived. Colorful illustrations illustrate the classic theme that children are a precious gift from God.

God Gave Us You, written by Lisa Tawn Bergren and illustrated by Laura J. Bryant, is an adorable little book. The edition I received has a hard cover, thick pages and seems like it would be durable. The story is cute and the illustrations enhance the meaning of the story. The theme of the book assures a child that he or she is treasured, loved, and a blessing from God. Children will enjoy the colorful illustrations featuring animals (mostly polar bears) in various situations.

I recommend this book to any parent who is looking for an entertaining book with themes of assurance and love.

Part of a Christian children's series, this beautifully illustrated little book touches on the topics of birth, love, and family. Although its answer may not satisfy inquiries from older children, it would be a lovely book to use to start to address the question of "Where do babies come from?".

This is a little board book about a small polar bear family. The little bear goes to bed and asks where she came from. As the mother tells her that she came from God. Questions continue and the mother lets her baby know she was wanted, and was a special gift to them from God. She grew inside as

A darling story for children to help assure them of their parent's love, the little polar bear listens as her mother tells her how she was anticipated and delighted over, and sent as a gift from God. A beginning answer to the universal where did I come from question, this gives parents and children
Show More
an opening to discuss what they believe, while keeping a loving tone and sending the message that they are wanted and loved.
The prose is a little long for a board book format as my daughter was impatient with how long it took to turn the pages, I would have shortened it down a bit. For the regular paper format for older children it would be fine.

While trying to put Little Cub to bed Mommy bear is asked where he came from. Mommy Bear lovingly explains how Little Cub came about by explaining the Bears pregnancy. Finally, Little Cub is assured he is a gift from God.

I liked the way the book broaches the difficult question of “Where do babies

come from?” The clever use of religious beliefs and child like views makes the story easy to understand. My daughter (7 years old) stopped asking questions after I read it to her.

I would like to use the book in my classroom as an introduction into the value of family by having the children draw a picture of their family. A good book for older Sunday school classrooms.

God Gave Us You is a touching story of a polar bear couple wanting to grow their family. The artwork is very cute, featuring the bears in various anthropomorphic activities and attire. It's a beautiful story that, reminds us that, in spite of all that parents go through in order to give birth, a

new child is a gift from God.

I love this book. I will probably find this and give it as baby shower gifts. It is a fun, sweet story that tells your child that they truly are a blessed gift from God. Shows love and excitement about the pregnancy and the wait and the unmeasurable joy to have the sweet child. A book that I will

definitely recommend to others and have enjoyed reading over and over to my two year son in the last few weeks.

I am a huge fan of Lisa Tawn Bergren's stories, especially this one that conveys an all time message of loving, being loved and knowing that you are loved. The main characters, Mama Polar Bear and her Little Cub share a warm relationship with tender dialog that begins with a question and from their

touches upon a loving message that children are a gift from the Lord.

I recommend God Gave Us You (board book) for gift-giving and an addition to your library for bedtime story sharing, plus Sunday Schools, Day Care for babies and toddlers and Christian families. Knowing God's love is a wonderful foundation to grow upon. ***** I LOVE the book!!!

This board book is just the right size for little hands.
When Little Cub asks, "Where did I come from?", Mama Bear answers in a way that is both satisfying and assuring to a young mind. Tenderly speaking of God's love for them, Mama Bear tells about being pregnant for Little Cub in words that are

Cute board book. Easy to read. Children really like it. I appreciated the fact that it answered questions that children have in a very nice way for a small child to understand.

A very sweet story of a mama bear telling her cub what a blessing she is. These are adorable books, with a great message!

A cute book, but more in-depth then I thought the board book would be. Still cute, with great illustrations and a great story. Would recommend as a good gift for older toddlers who are still into board books.

This was such a cute myth! I think it is such a good idea for parents to read this book to their children to explain to them how much they love them. It would be hard to read in a classroom setting, but would be great at home. This is one of my favorite books, by far!

I really enjoyed this Christian children's story. Can hardly wait to share this with my grandchildren. I received this as a gift and I voluntarily chose to review this. I've given it a 5* rating. Any child would feel special and loved after this story. The artwork is nice and fun too by Laura J.
