This is a great educational book about our solar system. It contains countless facts about our world and the world beyond us. It would be great to tie into a lesson while the students are studying and learning about the planets. One thing I though was interesting was on the last page where it
Show More
states "We are always learning about the planets, the stars, and what lies beyond." This is true because recently astronomers have declared that Pluto is no longer a planet, but only a star. Fascinating!

This is a science book that shows all about the planets. There is a lot of photography that is great for young children, but it can also be used for upper grades as well. It is filled with information about planets and space.

This is a information book all about our 9 planets. I t tells about each planet in order from closest to furthest from the Earth. Although Pluto is not considered a planet anymore it is in this book.

An informative book discussing the solar system focusing on the planets. This is a great book to read or reference in a science class.

Who knew that there are so many unknown facts about our planets that we maybe never heard of before? Well, "The Planets" is an excellent book that describes all of the interesting facts about why the plants are where they are, who came up with their names, and what it actually means to orbit. Be
Show More
prepared to have many question while you read and finish reading. Knowledge is power. For instance, when someone actually understands the world we live in, more questions start to brew which eventually makes that person's understanding that much more enhanced.

This book is about the 9 planets in the solar system. This book is a great learning tool to accompany a lesson about other planets in our solar system.

This book is about the planets in the solar system. It talks about the solar system as a whole, then breaks the story into facts about each planet. I liked this book I thought it was informative and easy to follow. The illustrations went well with the story line and helped to explain further what
Show More
the story already said. Good book to help explain planets and the solar system.
This would be a good book to incorporated into an elementary science class when discussing the solar system. It would gives the children a basic knowledge of the builds that can be used to build on in later school years.

The 9 planets of our solar system are explained in a very easy and interesting way. The author mainly talks about how long it takes the individual planets to orbit the sun and how long it takes them to rotate. Children will definitely get new information about our solar system and will hopefully
Show More
gain interest to further explore the planets.

Gail Gibbons covers numerous amounts of topics that have to do with our solar system. She talks about how all of the planets in our solar system except Earth received their names from Greek gods and goddesses. She Explains the dimensions of the planets and their alignments away from the sun. The
Show More
book is an easy read because each page in the book is dedicated to a different planet. The book also adds a few extra vocabulary words and explanations about lesser known solar system characteristics.

Another Gail Gibbons success! The illustrations take up more than half the page with text paired to the picture to explain the perfect amount of facts per page. She tells us about planets relationship to stars, other planets, and the sun. Every planet gets two pages to themselves and each one is
Show More
specifically related to the earth, since everyone reading the book lives on earth. At the end there is supplemental information about the nine planets.

This is a great book because it gives lots of details about our planets. Would be good for a unit over space.

Unfortunately, even though I love books about space and planets this is one that can't be used (or could be with explanation) because it still considers Pluto a planet. I think the book is a bit older and shows through it's illustrations, but all in all gets the job done.
