What a lovely story. Every child has an older bachelor neighbor living alone with a garden. Rylant and Howard present a nice tale of an older tabby adopted by said bachelor from the shelter, and they enjoy their lives together. A quiet domestic story, and definitely charming for cat-lovers.

I absolutely love the Mr Putter and Tabby books. My current favourite chapter books.

I love this series and am every so thankful that kids do, too. I really want to be neighbors to Mr. Putter and Mrs. Teaberry. This is apparently the first - it's simply a melt-your-heart story about an old man who finds an old cat to keep him company.
