Description

Fantasy. Juvenile Fiction. Mythology. So you've made it to Valhalla. Now what? This "who's who" guide to the gods, goddesses, and other important figures of Norse mythology was commissioned by Helgi, who, after more than a millennium as manager of Hotel Valhalla, became fed up with answering the same questions from newly deceased heroes at check-in. The profiles provide essential stats, interviews, and personal reflections so you can identify the gods and avoid those awkward introductions. Handy facts about other beings round out this go-to tome. You'll never see Ratatosk as a cute little rodent or confuse a dwarf with an elf ever again!.

Reminiscent of the Harry Potter school books collection (Fantastic Beast and Quidditch Through the Ages), though more in-depth. I'm most grateful for the pronunciation guide! The adaptations of the classic norse myths complement the modern tales quite pleasantly.

So, this was really cute, actually, and the little hints it dropped for the second book in the series were great. I loved that everything was explained in a way that anyone could understand and the pronunciation guide in the back was a god send. I would recommend this book to readers of Rick

An amusing "Hotel Handout" for the dead Norse Warriors arriving in Valhalla, with short bios of the Gods available. It also includes a theological bestiary, and interviews with the prominent, by that reporter of the Scandinavian scene, Snorri Sturluson. It is amusing.

I really the stories that Rick Riordan tells centering on mythology but I knew little about the Norse gods so the Magnus Chase series has been enlightening. As usual the personality of the characters comes through vividly and you can almost feel them in the room with you.

I guess you would call

Valhalla the Norse equitant to Mount Olympus so this "guide" introduces the relationships of the gods to each other and minor history as well.

Well done.
