I could clear my entire primary library of every book except Elephant and Piggie and children would still learn to read.

Or so I sometimes think.

Eight blades of grass are so excited to be growing and noticing their differences (tallest, pointiest, etc.).

This is a humorous book for beginning readers. The many exclamation points and large font convey a sense of excitement. Although watching grass grow is the proverbial boring thing to do,

Being book-ended by Elephant and Piggie helps give the book some 'name recognition.' Savvy readers will spy a cameo by the Pigeon as well.
