Clifford goes to visit his family with Emily Elizabeth. Everyone in his family has an important job where they are needed, and, as Emily Elizabeth says, Clifford wished they could live with them, but they were needed elsewhere.

Clifford's Family is another book in the Clifford the Big Red dog series. This one tells the story of Clifford's family and all the jobs that they do. Clifford misses his family, but realizes that they are need in the place that they are currently in. For example, one is a seeing-eye dog, a fire

dog, and his father is a pet of a poor, but loving family. The story stresses the importance of family love and the fact that not everyone is exactly alike. It also addresses the fact of distance between family members and stresses that the reason that they may be far away is because they are needed in that place. The main characters (Clifford and Emily Elizabeth), should be very familiar to children as this is a popular series and TV show. It is a good book to help young readers learn how to read themselves. The words are small and the illustrations help give them clues about the words. I would recommend this for younger children who are learning to read.

Clifford's Family is a really great book! This book is about Clifford, a little red puppy that grows into a very big dog. The dog goes out to look for his family and wishes they could come live with him, but his owner Emily told them they had ownsers that needed them just like Emily needs Clifford.

For 35 years my attitude toward Clifford was one of benign indifference, but now that I'm actually reading his books that is changing fast. This is where we meet his family, who are not big and red but each of whom is a special dogooder* and overachiever in his or her own way: seeing eye dog, fire

dog, sheepdog, &c. It's kind of a more sanctimonious Franny & Zooey or Royal Tenenbaums of the dog world, and you're left with the impression that in the same way as only arty upper middle class eccentrics from New York deserve to be the centres of their own stories, all those dogs in the dog pound or living mangy and forgotten under the bridge deserve to be there, man.

*that's "do-gooder," not "dog-ooder")
