Description

Investigative reporter Jillian Carter knows that it's time to put the past to rest. She's tired of looking over her shoulder, letting a killer go free. She's no longer the scared kid who changed her name and disappeared. Now, no matter what the cost, Jillian must do what she is trained to do: ferret out the truth and expose it. Senator Frank Hoffman committed murder ten years ago, and Jillian watched it happen-didn't she? Not even the enigmatic and attractive Colton Brady, her ex-boyfriend and nephew of the killer, will be able to make her leave this alone.

Jillian Carter left town ten years ago when she saw Senator Frank Hoffman commit murder. Now she's older and determined to return home and gain the evidence she needs to expose the truth of that night. Colton Brady has been looking for Jillian for the past 10 years. Now she's returned and she is as

beautiful as ever, but what she's telling him just can't be true, can it? However, someone wants Jillian silenced forever. Colton finds himself needing to protect her and wanting to know the truth. Will they figure it all out or will it be too late?

Under the book description it says, "Get ready for the spine-tingling, nail-biting conclusion to an explosive series." I couldn't have said it better. I was looking forward to Jillian's story and what really happened that night. Jillian and Colton were great, very realistic characters. They each had a strong faith that just felt natural to me. I also liked Meg, who was very cute and made me smile more than once. The action was pretty much non-stop all the way through. There were times I couldn't read fast enough. The author did a wonderful job of bringing everything together at the end. In fact, I loved the ending which had a few unexpected twists that I really didn't anticipate. That's always a plus for me. This is a series that you definitely want to read in order. Each story has a conclusion but leaves you with an unsolved thread. When you read the books back to back it really reads like one big story. I liked that. If you enjoy romantic suspense, The Deadly Reunions Series is one you won't want to miss. Great characters, lots of suspense, sweet romance and, of course, explosions, gunshots and a few dead bodies make this a series you can't put down.

I didn't realize while reading When a Secret Kills that it is the third of a series. To me, that means it is a great stand-alone book. I never felt I was “missing something,” and I never thought that there were back-stories that needed to be explained. We do know at the beginning that the two
Show More
main characters, Colton & Jillian, had a previous relationship, and that trouble follows Jillian everywhere.

This is a good mystery with a light romance. The main characters are believable and likable even when the story is not quite as believable. Even though I had not read the previous books in this series, I felt I had a good idea of the personalities of the characters involved.

The story is a rather complex twisting tale that managed to hold my interest. There are more than enough suspects, and the story comes to a satisfying ending. This is my first Lynette Eason book, but it won’t be my last.

This is the conclusion of Deadly Reunion Series, and this book can stand alone, but it does wrap up the other two.
When a Secret Kills, is actually more than one secret, but one of them has caused people to die. The story involves a young, just graduated from high school, with a secret so terrible,
Show More
she flees for her life. She does manage to stay hidden for ten years, and then someone close to her is killed. It is time to meet the terror head on. That is exactly what Jillian Carter does. She goes home to meet and face her past.
This is a story that depending on when you start can keep you up all night turning pages. When I was finished, and knew what happens, I still wanted more! If you like suspense this one has it all, and you won't be disappointed, you will think it is all figured out, when wham...you don't!
Don't miss this one, and do yourself a favor and read the other two, you won't be disappointed.

I received this book through Revells Blogger Tours, and was not required to give a positive review.

Another great book. Jillian is finally back in town and ready to share the secret she has kept for 10 years. She wants to quit running and have a better life for herself and her daughter. However someone is really trying to kill her due to the secret she has been keeping all of these years. Twists

and turns, action, romance all rolled into one with this book. A must read to find out of Jillian makes it and how things turn out for her, her daughter and her daughters father who has no idea he is a father.

I got hooked on this book rather quickly, but after awhile I realized it wasn't as good as it originally appeared. This is the kind of book that makes me feel like anyone can write a book and get it published. The story is trite, somewhat suspenseful, with cardboard characters. At one point the
Show More
author referred to the wonders of the city where the story takes place and I realized, I had no idea where that was and I wasn't inclined to go back and try to find one reference to it. I won't read any more from this author.

So, we finally get to meet Jillian Carter and find out what she's been hiding for 10 years. Several things, apparently. And what was in the packet wasn't what I thought it would be.

Making the case ends up being somewhat convoluted. In the end, there were more suspects than I'd thought--and some I
Show More
hadn't considered prior to their reveal.

*****

I did know prior to this book that Frank Hoffman was somehow involved.

I did suspect Ian at one point, but I didn't suspect the others who ended up involved.

I did realize what Frank's wife intended to do at the hospital before it was revealed, but I thought she was doing it for a different reason than what she later revealed.

I don't think Colton's reaction to learning about Meg is very realistic. He seems to get over the shock of learning he has a daughter who's almost 10 and the anger at Jillian for not telling him rather quickly.
